30 Weeks

Wow! I can't believe I'm in the 30's now. While it's highly unlikely, I could have this baby in just 7 weeks since 37 weeks is technically considered full term. When I pointed that out to Scott his eyes got really big and he said "that's just crazy." The weeks are flying by so fast I almost feel like I can't keep up. Here is this week's update!!

Size of Baby: 15.7 inches long and 3 pounds, about the size of a large cabbage. I had an appointment with my doctor yesterday and Campbell measured exactly a week ahead which means he's probably more like 3.5 pounds. I'm so worried he's going to be a big baby thanks to Scott who weighed 9 pounds, 3 ounces when he was born. Seriously, I lose sleep over this. We're going to do another ultrasound in 2 weeks and actually weigh Campbell because I really, really need to know what I'm going to be working with in 10 weeks. The possibility that he could be on the bigger side is giving me serious anxiety and I'm not even joking. I've cried a few times over it.

How I'm Feeling: I've felt fantastic this week! I have started to experience Braxton Hicks contractions every day now and they're actually pretty strong.

Cravings/Appetite: I bought some purple grapes and I can't stop eating them! I'm glad I've chosen a healthy snack to crave this week instead of the sweets and chocolate that I typically go after.

Clothes: I've been coming up with new ways to be able to make a lot of my clothes work this week which has been nice. I'm still loving my Hue leggings and as long as I layer with a long tank, I'm able to squeeze into a decent amount of my regular tops and sweaters. Everything I've worn this week has been non-maternity (even my pants) and I know it sounds ridiculous but I told Scott it gives me a little boost that I'm still able to do that.
Movement: My little mover isn't slowing down! Scott and I were laying in bed on Wednesday night and Scott was feeling him kicking and we couldn't stop laughing because it was non stop and so forceful. Scott couldn't believe how much he was moving and now he's worried that our little boy is going to be a wild one!

Changes in Me: I had my weekly weigh in this morning and I've officially gained 10 pounds. At my last appointment I was a little concerned that I wasn't gaining enough weight (who would have ever thought I'd be worried about that) but my doctor reassured me that everything is okay since my belly always measures correctly and Campbell is obviously just fine in the growth department. She said with how sick I've been, especially during the first trimester, she's not surprised that I haven't gained much weight. If she's not worried, I'm certainly not worried and if things continue going like they are now, I'll probably gain around 20 pounds by the time this is all said and done. No complaints here!

Baby Purchases: I want Campbell to love books so I've slowly been stocking up on them to get him a little library started. I was at Barnes and Noble this week getting a few classics and when I was checking out, the lady suggested I get this book that's a special Valentines price right now. At first I said no but she kept going on and on about how good it was so I gave in. Y'all. It is seriously the cutest book ever. If you have little ones you must get them this book.
Favorite Moment This Week: At my appointment yesterday we were checking Campbell's heart rate and the little nugget had the hiccups. The doppler was not only picking up the beat of his heart but the sound of his hiccups as well! It was kind of really cute.

Looking Forward To: Finishing the nursery. I'm gonna get there one of these days....I just know it.

Nursery Struggles

I am wearing myself out trying to decorate this nursery. I have found, in my home decorating experience, that some rooms easily throw themselves together and some rooms give you a headache. Campbell's room is giving me a headache. I want it to be grown up but still baby-ish. It's a hard combination to figure out. I find myself sitting in his room all the time, looking around and thinking to myself "what in the world am I going to do with this space." This is a classic picture of me these days. Here I am sitting on a rolled up rug (the 3rd I've tried) and looking at a mirror that I was trying to decide if I would or wouldn't keep (I did) and I felt the need to document my nursery decorating struggles.
And yeah, that canvas behind me that Scott and I hung last weekend.....that's going back.

Scott and I have about 3/4's of the space all figured out. And it looks great. We may have figured out what we're going to replace that canvas with this evening and I'm crossing my fingers that after this try, we'll have ourselves a winner. I'm glad I have (maybe) 10 weeks to get this figured out because at the wishy washy rate I'm at, I'm thinking that's how long it's going to take me.

Short & Simple

Not a lot going on here in the Johnson household. We're spending our week doing our best to stay warm and cozy. Hope y'all are doing the same!!

Over The Weekend

I had a great weekend! I had my maternity pictures made Friday afternoon and I can't wait to see them! The photographer who took them is also taking our newborn photos and I was able to browse through her large collection of hats and blankets for my little Campbell to wear. She has so many options to choose from and I know his little pictures are going to be so sweet!
After our photos Scott and I drove to Fayetteville to have our anniversary dinner at Ella's Restaurant in The Inn At Carnall Hall. Yall. It was the best meal we've had in a long time. I've had lunch there before but never dinner. It was fantastic. I highly recommend dining there if you're in Fayetteville.
On Saturday Scott and I searched all over town for some art for Campbell's room. We ended up finding a mirror and canvas from IO Metro. We took it home to try it out and they both look awesome! I'm ordering a few more art pieces from Restoration Hardware then I believe we're all set as far as the nursery goes. I'm going to have it finished way earlier than I thought I would which makes me happy. The goal was to have it done exactly one month before his due date (April 11) but I think we'll be all finished by mid-February. Yay!
On Saturday afternoon my Mom drove up to NWA to pick up little Gracie. We didn't do much. We mostly hung out in Campbell's room all night long talking and hanging pictures. Mom left yesterday around lunch to head back down to Little Rock. I'm glad she was able to come up and see the progress we've made on the nursery and help us decorate it a little bit!
We're kicking off our week with a little nesting and staying warm inside the house. For lunch I decided I wanted to go to Tropical Smoothie to get their Veggie Hummus Wrap. It's so yum and Tropical Smoothie is really close to my house so it's convenient to pop by there quickly. I asked the girls if they wanted to go bye bye with me because I like to take them out of the house for a change of scenery when I can. Madison was so excited to go but Ivy said she didn't want to and ran up the top of the stairs and just sat there. I tried to talk her into it but she wasn't interested so I just took Madison with me. When we pulled into Tropical Smoothie the lady at the drive thru asked Madison if she wanted a treat which made for an extra awesome bye bye trip. Ivy totally missed out. Too bad for her!

29 Weeks

Size of Baby: 2.5 pounds and a little over 15 inches long, about the size of a butternut squash.

How I'm Feeling: When its not early in the morning or later in the afternoon I feel great! I'm having the same type of morning sickness that I did in the first trimester but on a much smaller scale. I've gotten sick quite a few times this week which hasn't been pleasant but it is what it is. Round ligament pains have returned this week as well. I can't be on my feet for too long before they start to creep up. While that all sounds miserable, I actually still feel really good. There's just a few moments in the day where I'm uncomfortable but it comes and goes pretty quickly. I still love being pregnant even if I'm sick or have sharp shooting pains!!

Cravings/Appetite: Some foods are starting to give me extra bad heartburn and make me sick but I can't figure out what the foods are. I thought my cappuccino was the culprit but I think it was bananas and I'm fairly certain orange juice is to blame as well.

Clothes: Clothes are officially a challenge now. It takes me longer to get dressed because I can't find anything to wear. I find myself wearing the same things over and over. My Hue Soft and Slim leggings are my favorite pants to wear these days. They're so comfortable....even more comfortable than my maternity jeans.
Movement: Campbell has been waking me up in the middle of the night every night because of his movements. He also greets me first thing in the morning with a little dancing. Last weekend I felt him have hiccups for the first time. I haven't noticed them since then but it was pretty cool so I hope it happens again!

Changes in Me: I'm beginning to understand what women mean when they say the end of pregnancy is the hardest part. I'm not miserable by any means but everything is just getting harder. Bending over is ridiculously challenging. Doing certain things makes my back hurt now and before it wouldn't have even phased me. I can't even keep up with the growth of my belly anymore!

Baby Purchases: I found two super cute pairs of pajamas at TJ Maxx and I can't wait to see my little buddy in them!

Favorite Moment This Week: Scott and I were fiddling with Campbell's crib and we moved it out from the wall a bit and wedged ourselves between the crib and the wall to mess with something. At one point we needed to switch spots so Scott attempted to squeeze by me. Normally that would have worked out just fine but my huge belly got in the way so he had to walk around the crib in order to get on the other side of me. We both got a good little laugh.

Looking Forward To: My maternity pictures this afternoon! I purposely scheduled them on our 5 year wedding anniversary so I would always remember exactly when they were taken. Plus I thought it would be a neat way to celebrate 5 years of marriage. After our maternity photo session we're going to have a nice dinner in Fayetteville to celebrate our anniversary. I'm looking forward to it!

FIVE

Tomorrow I will celebrate 5 years of marriage to my wonderful husband and partner for life, Scott. I can't believe we've been married for 5 years now. It definitely doesn't seem like it's been that long. I can remember our beautiful wedding like it was yesterday. Everything about the day was perfect and if I could relive the day over and over I would.
Our wedding was a wonderful start to our marriage and life together. I've never had a single bit of doubt about the happiness that would be brought to me by spending my life with Scott. I knew after dating Scott for just 2 weeks that I would spend my life with him. I know that when God made me, he made Scott at the same time and set us aside to be together and I feel like the luckiest girl in the world that God gave me such an amazing man to spend my life with.
Like any couple we've had our highs and we've had our lows. I can honestly say that I've never been happier in my life and marriage than I am right now though. I didn't think I could love Scott any more than I did the day I married him but I love him more today than I did 5 years ago. We've talked recently about how we feel like we've worked out those little kinks that used to hang us up the first few years of marriage. We've by no means figured out the secret to the fairy tale, but life together seems to get easier and easier as the months and years go by. I know there are many bumps in the road awaiting us but I made a promise to Scott that I would be with him until death separates us and nothing has ever made me regret that promise.
Scott makes me feel so comfortable and so safe. He takes such good care of me and his love for me is unquestionable. He showers me with compliments and always makes me feel pretty even on the days that I feel anything but. I hope Scott thinks I'm as good of a wife to him as he is a husband to me.
The last 5 years have been a wonderful journey and I look forward to celebrating another 60 more with my best friend.

I will be true to the promise I have made
To you and to the One who gave you to me

Too HIgh--Too Low--Just Right.

Happy Hump Day! I've spent my Wednesday running all over town. It's amazing how much I do that and you would think I would run out of errands but somehow I never do. I feel like I'm constantly on the go but I like it and enjoy it.
Yesterday I went to the mall to look for something for Scott. I picked up a few little fun goodies for myself while I was at it. They have these tops at Gap for $5 and I love them!! I grabbed another one in yellow because why not? I love a good sale.
While I was at the mall I also popped in Motherhood Maternity to see if I could find any maternity tops.  It should be noted that after I tried 3 tops on, I went to the register to make my purchase and I was out of breath. From trying on 3 tops. Embarrassing.
Campbell's bedding arrived yesterday! I'm really pleased with how it looks. Scott and I spent our whole evening last night setting it all up! You would think that wouldn't take up an entire evening but the linen was so wrinkly so we had to iron it which took forever. Then I put Scott to work raising and lowering the crib because I wanted the bed skirt to hit the ground just right. First it was too high then it was way too low.....an hour later we finally nailed it. I'm fairly certain Scott was more than irritated with me and would have preferred to not mess with it right that instant but I was anxious to see what it would look like so he complied. It's safe to say Scott and I are officially experts when it comes to raising and lowering cribs now if anyone out there needs some help with that. By the end of the night my back was killing me so I soaked in my tub then hit the hay. I love taking a bath. I take one every single night. I turn the lights off and throw some bubbles in and it's my time to just chill out and relax.....while my little audience watches.

Baby Names

I've been hit with a serious case of morning sickness today. It's almost 6:00 and the mad dashes to the bathroom count is officially up to four. Isn't that neat? Luckily I don't have nausea. Nausea is the worst. I've read where women with short torsos have a harder time keeping food down in the third trimester because their actual stomach is getting squished and the food can't digest as well. I'm fairly certain that's what's happening here and I'm a little worried that it's only going to get worse the bigger I get. I'm still loving being pregnant but this is a touch annoying.
This is a little random but for anyone out there who is on the hunt for a baby name, this book is such a great source!! Instead of scouring through 100,001 baby names from A to Z, this one gives you a select few from classic book characters and authors. I loved flipping through it when I first found out I was pregnant because it didn't give me a headache like the other baby name books did and I actually enjoyed reading it. The names in here range from classic to cool and it gives you a fun little mini profile on each name. Even if you have a name picked out (or if you aren't even expecting but you're thinking about family planning sometime in the near future) I would highly recommend you get this book.
These three little nuggets tested out Campbell's crib for me this weekend. They approve.

Bonus Room

Scott and I spent our weekend decorating our bonus room. It took up our entire Saturday night to hang curtains and pictures but it all came together wonderfully and I love our new space!!
We got our new sectional at IO Metro along with the ottoman and pillows. Every single room in my house is monochromatic with different shades of grey and cream and since this is a fun bonus room, I wanted to put some color in it. Our art above the sofa is our Memphis in May posters. We've had them for years and I love them. Scott and I have collected them from all of the Memphis in May music festivals we've gone to. We have another one on a different wall in the bonus room. I'm hoping to attend more in the future so we can add to our collection because I think the posters are so fun!
This bonus room is also going to serve as Scott's home office. We have an actual office downstairs but since it's the first room you see when you walk in the front door of our house, I wanted it to be more of a pretty sitting room than an office. I haven't found a chair for this desk yet but maybe we'll get that taken care of this weekend. Scott came home one day a few months ago with that big, chunky desk from Office Depot or something like that. I wasn't entirely thrilled but he needed a big desk with a lot of drawers and plenty of space to work on so I went with it. Once we got some art over it and decorated it a little bit I actually don't mind the desk so much. I got that basket at Target this weekend for super cheap and stuck Scott's house plans in it. I think it turned out pretty cool!
We still have to hang a TV on the wall opposite the sofa and get some type of media chest to put under it. Hopefully we can find something soon so the bonus room will officially be complete! So far, I'm really happy with how it's turned out. Before we got furniture in this room we never went in there. Now that it's all decorated we find ourselves hanging out up there all the time!
I love having a bonus room and one of my priorities before the baby arrived was making sure we got it furnished and decorated. Campbell's room is upstairs with the bonus and I have a feeling I'll be spending a lot of time in this room once he gets here. Even though it's not 100% complete yet, it's basically finished and I'm so pleased with the result! This was a really fun room to decorate.

28 Weeks

Size of Baby: 2 1/4 pounds and 14.8 inches long, about the size of a large eggplant.

How I'm Feeling: I feel great! It's been a good week. I haven't been as tired as I have been in the previous weeks so that's been nice. I did get hit with morning sickness yesterday and this morning. My doctor says my body must not be able to handle the hormones some days.

Cravings/Appetite: I haven't been very hungry this week. Also, I don't think Campbell likes my french vanilla cappuccinos that I used to enjoy so much. I'm having an aversion to them these days which is just so confusing to me since it's always been my favorite part about my mornings. Also, I think the cappuccino is to blame for the morning sickness I've had the last two days. I guess I'll be giving those up now since I'm pretty sure they're making me sick.

Clothes: I went to a baby shower on Sunday afternoon and I struggled to find something to wear. Even some of my (normally) loose tops wouldn't fit. Most of the clothes that fit me these days are more casual, every day shirts. Eventually I found a top that worked but my closet full of nothing to wear made me 20 minutes late to the party. I probably need to buy some maternity tops but the selection is slim pickin's here in NWA.
Movement: My little man is still just a movin and groovin. His kicks and punches are getting stronger every week. Last night he was doing somersaults and it was such a strange feeling! I could literally feel the little person inside of me swimming and rolling around. It reminded me of when I was a kid and I would do flips under the pool water over and over. That's exactly what it felt like he was doing and it was so funny to me.

Changes in Me: Bending over is getting harder. Lifting my leg over the tall ledge while I'm getting out of the bath is harder and I'm always worried I'm going to slip and fall. People are starting to get really helpful to me when I'm out in public. They open doors for me, help me lift things, let me go first in line, etc. While I'm perfectly capable of doing it myself, it's kind of nice having someone do it for me. There's a lot of nice people out there!

Baby Purchases: After my doctors appointment yesterday, per my tradition, I went to baby Gap to see what I couldn't live without. I found the tiniest little swimsuit that was entirely too precious so I snatched it up plus an adorable t-shirt to pair with it. I highly doubt Campbell will be splashing in the pool this summer but that is neither here nor there. His new swim trunks will make for a super cute picture and maybe he'll get to wear them a few times while lounging at the pool with me. I still haven't figured out how I'm going to live at my neighborhood pool like I usually do. It's something I've been thinking about since I found out I was pregnant in July.
Favorite Moment This Week: Campbell's arrival is getting closer and closer and it's really started to sink in this week for Scott and myself. There's no more messing around and taking our time with certain things. We're in "go" mode when it comes to getting stuff done now because we don't have much time to waste. Feeling the urgency of needing to finalize things has been fun and exciting.

Looking Forward To: My baby bedding coming in. I got an email today saying it's been shipped and should arrive at my doorstep on Tuesday. I can't wait!!

Camera Ready

Over the holidays Scott purchased a fancy new camera and I must say, he's become quite the photographer in just a few short weeks. You may have noticed that some of the photos I've been posting on here have been looking pretty nice lately and my sweet husband is the one behind the camera. He watches these photography videos on the internet all the time (nerd alert) and whenever he wants to try some new technique, Madison, Ivy and I tend to be his muses. At first I was a tiny bit against splurging on such a nice camera. We have a Nikon D3100 that we purchased a few years back and we never use it. I assumed this camera would get the same treatment but we use it almost every day. Scott wanted it so we could get good pictures of Campbell and I'm so glad we have it! This Nikon D610 takes awesome photos! Definitely worth the splurge.

(we took this shot today for my 28 week update. check in tomorrow for more on that!)

Scott's been talking about getting a camera for months and spent many hours researching to figure out which one he thought was best. Shortly after Christmas he finally took the plunge, ordered his camera and was as giddy as a school boy about his new toy. It was shipped to us via UPS and we were excited to learn it would arrive at our doorstep just a few short days after ordering it. However, one of us had to be home sometime between 9 and 3 to sign for the package. Scott asked me if I would stay home and wait for it and I said I would. But I accidentally managed to slip out of the house for just 15 minutes and of course the UPS guy stopped by the house during those few short minutes that I wasn't there. They left a note saying they would be back in three days to deliver the package and the look of disappointment on my husbands face made me feel soooo crunchy.
I immediately picked up the phone and called the UPS 1-800 number to see if they could get the guy to swing back by. Of course they were of zero help. ZERO. I couldn't contact the local hub because that number isn't listed (none of local hub numbers are) and other than driving around looking for a big brown truck I wasn't sure what I could do. Scott told me to not worry about it but I felt really bad and wanted him to have his camera. So I put my thinking cap on.
Long story short, I managed to figure out the name and personal cell phone number of the UPS guy who has our route, set up a time and location, and Scott met up with him so he could get his camera. Wife of the year holla! You don't even want to know how I went about doing that but I felt very Anne Hathaway in The Devil Wears Prada where Andy finds the unpublished manuscript of Harry Potter for Miranda's twins to read on the train to grandma's house.
When Scott told our friends that evening what I'd managed to pull off none of them were surprised. Because figuring out stuff like that is how I roll people.

Hair Tutorial: How To Get Soft Curls

The most common question I get asked from blog readers (or women I come across in general) is "how do you get your hair to look like that?"
My method is super easy (or at least I think so) and a couple of years ago I posted a video tutorial on here because so many ladies were curious to know how to do it. A lot of you are new to this blog since I last posted this video and I've gotten the hair how to question quite a bit lately. So I thought I would repost my video tutorial here today for those of you that missed it the first time. Hopefully after watching this you'll be able to create those beautiful romantic curls for yourself! I promise it's not hard and eventually you'll be like me and be able to create this style in 15 minutes flat. Let's get to curling shall we?

One Of Those Days

Today has been "one of those days."
Ever since our nursery furniture came in I've been spending a lot of my time trying to get the room pulled together and finished. It's been so much fun and I've loved my new decorating project even if I have to search long and hard to find certain items. I've mentioned several times that we were having the bedding and curtains for Campbell's room made and yesterday the lady who was making them came out to the house to measure and go over final details for it all. She was so sweet and I could tell she was really good at what she does and when she left I was really excited about everything we discussed.
Today she emailed me the final cost of the extremely plain different shades of grey linen curtains, bumper, bed skirt and two pillows she was making for me and I nearly fell out of my chair when I saw the large four digit number on the invoice. After calling my Mom to rant, I drove straight to Sonic because this preggo lady needed a Route 44 ice tea stat.
One adjective that I would never use to describe myself is a saver (this drives my saver of a husband absolutely crazy about me) but even I draw the line somewhere. Once the initial shock wore off, I came home and started searching online for some new baby bedding. I was really worried I wouldn't find anything I liked but I stumbled upon a collection at Restoration Hardware (our nursery is officially going to look like a RH catalog) that fits the look we're going for pretty well so I guess we'll be going with it instead.
After thinking it over, I believe I'm going to be really pleased that we're going this route. A bonus is that Restoration Hardware makes toddler bedding that matches the crib bedding we're getting. So when Campbell moves to his toddler bed, we can just order the bedspread that matches and instantly and easily convert his nursery into a big boy room!
I'm a touch nervous because some of the items I've purchased for Campbell's room have been based off of the original bedding I was planning on getting. My Mom keeps reassuring me it will all still look good together and I think she's right but I'm still a little irritated that a large four digit kink messed up my nursery.
I'm asking for a sewing machine for my birthday because clearly custom drapes and bedding is where the money's at y'all.

Just Another Monday

I had a fun weekend. My parents decided to come up for a visit at the last minute so it was great getting to spend the weekend with them. We really didn't do much and spent a lot of time just hanging around the house but it was kind of nice being low key. Ivy and Madison were so excited to see Grace and Grace was so excited to be here that she asked if she could stay a little longer. She's going to hang at our house for a little bit.
I spent my Monday searching for art for the nursery. Let's talk about how hard it is to find art for your house shall we? I think it's the hardest part about decorating. Eventually it will all come together but for now I've got nothing. It's frustrating!!
Speaking of decorating......after almost 2 years of living in our house, we've finally decorated our bonus room! We ordered some furniture a few months ago and it was delivered on Friday. Woo Hoo! We got a sectional and ottoman and we're currently searching for a media chest/console to put under our television. I really wanted to get it furnished before Campbell's arrival because I have a feeling I'll be spending a lot of time in there when he gets here. We've only had the furniture for a few days but Scott and I already find ourselves hanging out up there quite a bit. I thought the girls would be sad that we put furniture in the empty room that they loved to run and play in but I think they may love it even more now. They enjoy sitting on the back of the sofa and looking out of the window. It's a win win for everyone!

27 Weeks

Hello third trimester! I'm in the home stretch now. I'm a little anxious to see what the third trimester will be like. Every email I get makes it almost seem dreadful and I'm hoping that's not the case for me. I still feel really great and I can't see how that could change too much in the next few weeks. I'm actually still really comfortable and able to easily do everything. I sleep great, my back doesn't hurt me (unless I'm on my feet all day), I don't waddle and I'm not running out of breath. I would say I feel just like my normal self 95% of the time. It's hard to believe Campbell's arrival is just around the corner and while I can't wait to meet my precious baby, I'm still perfectly content being pregnant and enjoying life as I know it for the next 3 months.
Size of Baby: Two pounds and 14 1/2 inches long, about the weight of an acorn squash.

How I'm Feeling: Most of the time I feel great. However, on Monday night morning sickness came back and was horrible to me!! I could not stop throwing up and the bloody nose tagged along with it. It was awful. I haven't thrown up since then but I'm constantly on edge now wondering if it's going to come back. I read if you had a rough first trimester then the third trimester can be just as bad, if not worse. I hope I don't get sick again and that Monday night was some weird fluke but it totally wouldn't surprise me at all if it came back.

Cravings/Appetite: I've been really into bananas this week. It's kind of a strange fruit choice for me but I've really enjoyed them. My body must need some potassium!

Clothes: Nothing has changed in the clothing department but I find myself coming home and throwing on my sweats immediately because they're much more comfortable (obviously). I love winter weather but I'm starting to wish it would warm up because dresses and flip flops would be much more comfortable to wear right now than jeans and boots.

Movement: Campbell is still just a movin in there and doesn't seem like he's getting cramped for space at all yet. I'm getting to where I can feel the weight of him now especially when he's down really low.
Changes in Me: I am looking large and in charge these days. I used to notice such a huge difference in my bump every two weeks or so but now it's getting so big I can't even keep up anymore.

Baby Purchases: I've bought a lot of things for Campbell this week. I got a couple of spring outfits for him and two pairs of pajamas. I ran across a burp cloth I couldn't live without. I found two cute hampers for his nursery that I love (I may use one to store his toys) and we also purchased his mattress.

Favorite Moment This Week: This has been a fun baby week for us! The best moment has definitely been getting to see our sweet boy and get a good idea what he looks like. Right when he popped up on the ultrasound we got a great look at his little face and I immediately thought to myself "yep, that's my baby." I honestly had no idea what to imagine Campbell to look like but I instantly recognized him and knew that he belonged to me. I can't stop thinking about how precious he is and seeing him made me so ready to meet him and hold him and kiss him.

Looking Forward To: My appointment next week. I'm officially in the bi-monthly appointment phase. I have to get a RhoGAM shot but shots don't really bother me so I'm not too worried about it. Other than that, checking my weight, listening to the heart beat and measuring my belly there isn't anything else we do but I always like my appointments. It's just nice to have an opportunity to check up on the little man!

A Few Things This Thursday

These two are over the snow and cold weather. I, however, am not. I think I'm in the minority on this one but I love it. I like getting to experience all of the seasons. As long as it doesn't trap me indoors for more than 2 days, bring on the snow, ice and frigid temperatures!!
While I was in Fayetteville yesterday I popped in Bella Jack's to get someone a baby gift. I was delightfully surprised to see my registry was up!!! Bella Jack's has little cube's in their store and they fill them with the things that different couples have registered for and I think it's such a neat idea. I think my little cube is so cute! Bella Jack's has the most precious little items.
Over the weekend Scott and I went to the mall and I found these thermal shirts on sale at Gap for just $5!! I loaded up on a couple and I'm loving them. I think thermals are great to have around. I love to lounge in them around the house, wear them under my ski clothes when I go skiing and they're great for chilly winter days like today. If you're into thermals as well go to the Gap. You can't beat $5!

Finally, a neighbor of mine sent me this link today and (I'm not exaggerating) I've never laughed so hard at something in my entire life. Tears were literally pouring out of my face as I read this. If you're in the mood for a good laugh (and who isn't?) click here and enjoy!!

Drizzle

Today is a yucky day here in NWA. It's cold and rainy but that hasn't stopped me from running all over the place today. I drove to Fayetteville because I needed to return something at a store down there. I decided to do a little browsing around town while I was at it. I wore a big poncho sweater today and thought that it concealed my baby bump pretty good. Not that I'm trying to conceal it or anything but I just figured nobody would notice it with my huge poncho on. But when I was checking out at Target the cashier asked me when I was due. Womp Womp. I guess there's just no hiding it these days. My bump feels massive to me and I can't imagine how it's going to be capable of getting any bigger.
We don't have much on our agenda for the evening. We'll probably watch some shows then hop in bed early. My bedtime is starting to rub off on Scott. We were both in bed and asleep before the clock turned 10 last night. I'm loving my new bedtime. I used to be a night owl and it wasn't rare for me to be up until midnight. Turning in early may be my new thing for many years to come.

Campbell's Crib

Today was another fun day here in the Johnson house. Our crib got delivered this morning!! Restoration Hardware is on top of it. We ordered it just a little over two weeks ago so I'd say they're pretty speedy (and keep their promise) with their deliveries. We decided to go with the Layne crib collection and I love, love it.
I'm having someone make my bedding for me and she's coming out over the weekend to measure the crib and window and go over final details for everything. We're actually going with a fairly similar look with our bedding that's shown in the picture above. Everything is going to be different shades of grey linen and I'm hoping it's going to look as good as I'm picturing it in my head!!
We also ordered the matching dresser as well and I love it too! Right when the movers left I immediately started folding up pajamas and placing things in his little drawers. If you're expecting a baby I can't say enough good things about Restoration Hardware. We've ordered quite a few things from them now and everything we've gotten I've loved. From furniture to stuffed animals---all of their baby goodies get 5 stars from me!
Decorating Campbell's nursery is going to be so fun! I'm so excited that his furniture is in now so we can get the ball rolling on everything. This is all getting very real people!!!

4D Ultrasound and Daybreak

Hey all! Happy Monday! Mine has definitely been a happy Monday. I went in for my 4D ultrasound today. I had pretty low expectations for it but it turned out to be really wonderful! We got tons of pictures of our little Campbell and were also able to capture the entire thing on DVD as well. I was hoping when we got there that he would be asleep and for about the first 3 minutes he was. Then, of course, he started waking up and moving around and kept putting his little hands up by his face and rubbing his eyes. Which was the most adorable thing ever by the way.
Here's our little guy! Isn't he cute!? :)
Scott thinks he looks like him but I think he looks like me. Isn't that the way it always works? Ha! I guess we'll just have to wait and see when he makes his grand debut. Obviously I'm biased but I think he has the sweetest little face ever. I could stare at this picture all day!
And speaking of babies, my other babies were on TV today! I took this picture of them yesterday and I sent it in to 40/29 and Channel 7 news to see if they would show it and Channel 7 aired it this morning on Daybreak! My phone started blowing up at 6 am today with texts from people telling me they saw my girls! Of course we don't get Channel 7 here in NWA (which bums me out because I love it) but Mom and Dad were home and sent me a video of the clip so I could see it. It was such an exciting morning.
So see---today was definitely a good Monday!

26 Weeks

Twenty six weeks today and coming to the end of my second trimester. That went fast! Twenty six weeks feels really far along to me. So many fun things are happening these days. The nursery is starting to come together, baby stuff is filling our house and nesting is taking place as Campbell's arrival gets closer and closer.
Size of Baby: Almost 2 pounds and 14 inches long, about the length of a scallion.

How I'm Feeling: I feel really good but I'm getting awfully tired these days. I've decided that I win the fatigue award for pregnancy. Being pregnant just really wears me out. I was googling what makes you so tired later in pregnancy and it said fatigue can come back with a vengeance in the third trimester. Great. I continue to have mild heartburn and it's a little annoying but not horrible. I usually don't even take anything for it because it doesn't bother me that bad.

Cravings/Appetite: I still love sweets especially around breakfast time. I eat a brown sugar and cinnamon Pop Tart for breakfast almost every single day. It's so good to me.

Clothes: When I was in Little Rock over the holidays I went shopping at J Crew--my favorite store ever. I love their button downs and they had a few on sale so I grabbed a 4, the shirt size I always wear in there, and went to the dressing room to try it on. It was tight. I don't know what I was thinking but grabbing a 4 is normal and I guess I forgot I have a big pregnant belly these days. I ended up going back to the rack and traded in the button down for an 8 and it fits my belly great! Haha. See said shirt below.
Movement: Campbell's movements have changed a lot this week. Before this week it's just been big pops and kicks here and there but now it feels like he's running inside of me. I mostly feel his movements on the right side. I can feel him sliding his little arms and sometimes he taps so fast against me that it makes me smile and wonder what in the world he's doing in there. It's like he's trying to send me some type of morris code or something! While I'm laying down is when I usually feel his movements the most and sometimes his fast motions tickle me and I have to switch positions to get the little nugget to stop.

Changes in Me: My back is starting to hurt me a little bit. Getting socks on and off is so hard some days. I keep getting emails that my belly button is probably out at this point but it's still in there pretty good. It's a little more shallow than it used to be but I'm thinking it may not pop out.

Baby Purchases: I ordered my baby bag this week and it came in today! A while back I blogged about my search for the perfect baby bag and came up with a few options but honestly I wasn't totally sold on any of them. Over the holidays I decided to look into it again and discovered Tory Burch came out with a new baby bag. Right when I saw it I knew it would be perfect for the job! I love it! Such a fun purchase.
Favorite Moment This Week: Scott finally being able to notice Campbell's movements from the outside. We were laying in bed on Wednesday and I told him to watch my belly and our little guy was moving like crazy. Scott beamed so proudly and declared he was going to be a future Razorback kicker. (I'm not so sure about that. That small, yet important, role would stress me all the way out.) Scott's watched him kick many times since then. It may sound boring but we get a great deal of enjoyment out of laying around and watching my big belly move.

Looking Forward To: My 4D ultrasound on Monday! I love any chance to see my baby boy. It's been about 2 months since I last saw him and I know he's changed so much since then. I hope that we can get a good look at him and maybe get a good idea of who he looks like. I'm also so curious to know how much he weighs since he was measuring 4 days ahead last time. For those of you who have done 4D ultrasounds, what did you think about them? Did it look like your baby? I've heard mixed reviews. Either way, I'm still so excited about it!

Tired.

For the first time in over a week I've finally woken up to a normal day/routine. Let me tell ya, I'm zapped. Between the holidays, traveling, hosting parties and what not, I've been staying up pretty late almost every night for the last maybe 10 nights and yesterday it finally caught up with me. Yesterday I woke up at my usual weekend time--8:30ish, had breakfast then went back to sleep. Then I woke up again at 1:00 and I just couldn't make myself get out of bed. So I fell asleep again and woke up at 4:30 and even though I was still so tired I made myself get out of bed because I feared I wouldn't be able to fall asleep at night. Around 10:30 I hopped back in bed and fell asleep without any troubles. I've been telling Scott for over a week how exhausted I've been and I'm pretty sure I made that very clear yesterday.
I really don't have much on my agenda today other than many loads of laundry. And not to sound redundant but I'm kind of tired and want to take a nap. Should I nap or shouldn't I nap? It's always a debate I have with myself these days. I'm thinking maybe I should. Snuggling with my girls in my warm house while I know it's freezing outside sounds fantastic.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone! I rang in 2014 with all of my friends and we had such a good time! Scott and I hosted a New Years Eve party at our house last night and I had a blast. New Years Eve is usually a bust to me but I really enjoyed last night. It was somewhat low key since it was at our house but everyone definitely got a little rowdy and I loved it!
My friend, Jake, came up from the Eastern part of the state to ring in the new year with us and it was so good to see him. I literally haven't seen Jake since last January which is just crazy but true. He stayed at our house and he, Jaclyn and I spent the last few days running around together just like our old college days and it was so fun. I love the stage of life I'm in right now but sometimes I really miss those days where the three of us were attached at the hip and didn't do anything without each other.
Now, onto the party. It was a simple gathering with around 20 of my closest friends and neighbors. I had everyone bring an appetizer and we all just hung around and chatted. However, my favorite part about the party was the photo booth that Scott and I DIY'd. About a week ago I came up with the idea of a photo booth backdrop and thought it would add a little something extra to the party. I tried to find one to rent but nobody up here seems to do that and after searching online I discovered it would be fairly easy to just make it myself.
It was really so easy to do, only cost me about $50 and it was such a huge hit. People were taking photos all night and everyone's pictures turned out so, so cute!! Photo booth backdrops may become my new thing when it comes to parties. I loved having it!!!!
2013 was a great year but I can't help but think that 2014 is going to be even better! It's going to be a big year for my little family as we welcome our precious new addition in just a few short months. I really have no idea what to expect for 2014 but I know this year will bring such huge changes and I can't help but get very, very excited about it!
Here's to 2014!! May it be the best year yet for me and all of you as well! Happy New Year!!!
