Emmy's 2nd Birthday

A very special little girl is having a birthday today! Emerson Grace is two years old!!
We had so much fun at her birthday party today! We had hamburgers and hot dogs and an exceptionally delicious and insanely adorable birthday cake!!
Emmy has a mini table and chairs and Campbell sat at it to eat his lunch. I was so surprised because he did so good eating like a big boy. I think he loved eating at the table so it looks like Scott and I will be purchasing one for him very soon. Haha!
The last present Emmy opened was such a fun present. Emmy got her very first car and she LOVED it. We had to go in the driveway and take it for a spin and Campbell even got in on the action!
They looked sooooo cute driving around together. Campbell only enjoyed it for a little bit though. Once Emmy drove into the grass he'd had enough and didn't feel safe anymore. Haha! He decided he would just watch from a distance instead. Emmy could not get enough of her new car. It was so fun watching her enjoy it so much!

Happy Birthday Emmy! You are so loved by so many. I know we have many fun years and memories ahead and I can't wait for what's to come. We love you, sweet girl!!

Playroom Mini Makeover

I've officially transferred my bonus room into Campbell's little playroom. We've been spending all of our time in the bonus room for months now but I've still kept it looking more adult with just a few baskets of Campbell's toys. Last night I pulled the glass doors off my TV stand, took out my pretty books and accessories, and made it into a cubby space for all of Campbells stuff.
Now that Campbell is getting older and accumulating more toys he just needs more space. We're going to do a bigger makeover to the bonus room sometime this summer but for now this is the first step. I've looked on Pinterest and there are some amazing playroom's out there! It made me want to make Campbell's space really fun and cool for him. We're so lucky to have this room. Before Campbell was born we never, ever used this space. It was a totally empty room for two years. Now it's coming in very handy.
Our living room is completely not kid friendly so it's nice to not have to worry about Campbell's safety in here. I spend a lot of my time right in that spot where Madison and Ivy are sitting. In the morning I drink my coffee, snuggle with my girls and watch GMA while Campbell does his own thing and plays with his toys. It's pretty nice! Please don't tell me this is a phase and will end because I quite enjoy my lazy mornings.
This is pretty much it for now but it's all we need at this stage. I'm curious to know what some fun toys are that your kids love to play with so I can know how to plan in the future. I've noticed on Pinterest that almost every room has a mini table and chairs. I've seen a lot of play kitchens and the Little Tykes slide. I've also noticed the super cool teepee's but I'm wondering if those really get used? Tell me what Campbell needs or doesn't need! I want this space to be super fun for him.
I hope everyone has a great weekend!!

Better

My poor little guy has been a sick boy the last few days. He has been sneezing and coughing with the puffiest red eyes and the runniest nose. It started over the weekend and on Monday he was soooo pitiful. Scott, Mom and I had to work so hard to get him to fall asleep that night and I honestly thought I was going to have to put him in the bed with me. He just wanted to be held because he felt so bad. On Tuesday morning I took Campbell to the doctor and they prescribed him some antibiotics and he woke up feeling like his normal self today.
Can you believe this is the first time Campbell has been sick? He got that terrible stomach bug in January but this is the first respiratory illness he's ever had. The doctor was pretty impressed that we made it 14 months. I've been wondering how much my little peanut weighs and I'm happy to report he is all the way up to the 14th percentile weighing in at 19 pounds and 12 ounces. Campbell has never been over the 7th percentile before this last weigh-in so it was pretty exciting that he made it to the teens. Ha!
He is busy, busy, busy these days and into everything, everywhere. Campbell is still just as sweet as can be and is currently very into reading books and eating bread. He sleeps with a pillow now, still wears 6-12 month clothes and knows the difference between Ivy and Madison (some adults can't even figure that out!). Campbell still isn't talking yet, just babbling, but I'm hoping that will start happening in the next month or two.
I'm glad my little boy woke up feeling better today. This morning he made up for his sick days by being extremely active. I was worn out by 8:45! We may have to go do something extra fun today since he's feeling so good and apparently needs to burn off a lot of energy.

Cockrell Crawfish Boil

On Saturday our friends hosted their second annual crawfish boil. It's always a fun time and we were looking forward to going. Last year Campbell was an itty bitty baby and he slept most of the time. And I can remember telling someone that I was so thrilled because Campbell was sleeping in 4 hour stretches and I felt so refreshed. Ha! How miserable. My baby has changed a lot since the last crawfish boil and he had himself a good ol' time this year.
I'm almost certain Campbell consumed an entire watermelon all by himself. He could not get enough and I didn't even feed him dinner that evening because he snacked on watermelon all day long.
We had such a fun time with our friends and neighbors at the 2nd annual Cockrell Crawfish Boil. Already looking forward to next year!

Thirty

I had a fantastic Memorial Day Weekend! We were busy busy but it was so much fun! Yesterday I turned thirty. Wha? It feels weird typing that. I'm excited to be in my 30's. I welcome this decade with open arms and I have a feeling it's going to be a very amazing one. My twenties were fun but I just feel like your thirties is where it's at. My twenties were pretty much all about friends and having a good time. I wouldn't trade what I had in my twenties for anything but this is my favorite time in life so far. I know it will just get better and better as Scott and I grow (hopefully, God willing!!) and raise our own little family. I feel like it will be such a precious time in my life and I'm so looking forward to seeing what it holds for me.
I told my husband that all I wanted to do for my 30th birthday was go to the pool with all of my friends and order a bunch of pizza's. So that's what we did. I got so lucky with the sunshine since it's been cloudy and/or rainy for about two straight weeks now. My Mom came up to watch Campbell so Scott and I could hang by the pool all day long together. It was a delightful way to kick off summer and my 30's.
Scott got these emoji cookies made for my birthday dessert treat and I could kind of die. Are they not the cutest things you've ever seen?!?!?! I am so in love and they could not be more perfect. Super fitting since I loooove an emoji!
Campbell did come out for a little bit to hang out with us. He looked super cute in his swimsuit and had so much fun playing in the sun! I didn't put him in the pool because the water is freezing and I don't think he would like that. One day last week I bought him a little baby pool and I plan on taking it with me to the pool this summer. I'm going to try to get out there as much as I can, even if its just for an hour, and I thought the little pool would be a great way to keep Campbell entertained. So far, he's loving it!
I couldn't have had a better day yesterday. My favorite people helped me celebrate and it was so much fun. I'm a lucky girl to have so many wonderful friends and family. Here's to my 30's! May they be as sweet as I imagine them to be.

Backyard Landscaping

I got a new tree planted in my yard yesterday and the grown up in me gets insanely excited about things like that.
We added some landscaping to our backyard a few years ago but I knew I always wanted to plant another tree at some point. A home is currently being built next door to us so I felt like this was the perfect opportunity. I went with a tulip poplar mostly because it's super fast growing and good for privacy but also because it turns the most gorgeous shade of yellow in the fall. I think it's the cutest little tree and y'all would laugh if you knew just had giddy it makes me to have this now.
My backyard almost feels complete as far as landscaping goes. I'd still like to add some beds around the sides of my house but one step at a time. Everything is really starting to bloom now and it's looking very pretty and colorful back there!
I've mentioned several times that my backyard/patio is my own little oasis. There isn't really anything special about it but I love it. I dress it up with a lot of flowers and we have speakers outside so we can listen to music and it's so lovely to me. I enjoy it immensely and love having company over when the weather is nice so we can sit outside.
I'm looking forward to spending a lot of time outdoors this weekend. We have a full weekend planned and our neighborhood pool opened today so I'm hoping the weather cooperates. It's supposed to be cold and rainy which makes me sad but maybe it will turn around. We have a crawfish boil tomorrow and I'm turning the big 3-0 on Monday--Memorial Day. All I want for my birthday is to lay at the pool all day long with my best buds. I hope my birthday wish comes true! Y'all enjoy your long weekend!

The Warm Fuzzies

We've had a pretty low key week around here so far. Yesterday Campbell and I had "pajama day" as my nephew, Landon, calls it. We didn't leave the house all day except for a visit to the Chick Fil A drive through and it was really refreshing to just be home and do nothing.
Last night we were hanging out in our bonus room upstairs. I was throwing a ball and the girls kept fetching it. Campbell got SO tickled by it and just giggled and giggled watching them run after the ball. It melted me. When I was pregnant, I always imagined Campbell would laugh at his sisters doing something like that and to be in that moment watching it happen made my heart so happy. Sometimes--a lot of times--I just get overwhelmed by how sweet life is right now. I love this stage of life for me.
Campbell has this toy with a phone on it and he picks the phone up and holds it to his ear. I think it's so super cute when he does that! Seriously, I know I'm probably annoying you with my sappiness but I can't get enough of his little age. It is so much fun right now and soooo much easier than it used to be. I used to always be so worn out and now I can't believe how easy it is. I'm enjoying it because I'm sure the toddler stuff with kick in soon and I'll be emotionally and mentally worn out again!!! I keep praying that Campbell will be an easy toddler for me since he was such a hard baby. I feel like that's kind of fair but seeing as how life isn't always fair I'm not holding my breath.
Campbell is at MDO today and I have a lot to do while he's there. It's his last MDO for the fall/spring session. We get a two week break then he's going to do a summer session for 6 weeks. It's been so great for him and for me too. I love how much his teachers love on him and all of the other babies in his class. Okay, better hop off. Lots to do today!!

First Steps

Something pretty exciting happened in our house on Sunday night. Campbell took his very first steps! Yay Campbell!!
I was completely shocked to see it happen because it totally came out of nowhere. Campbell cruises furniture like crazy and he loves walking (running!) with his push toys but I still thought we were so far away from walking unassisted. I just so happened to be on FaceTime with my Mom and Scott was showing her how Campbell could walk holding onto just one of our hands---something he had just started doing.
So Scott stood Campbell up and held his hands then he let go and Campbell just stood there by himself for such a long time--the longest he's ever stood on his own. We were super excited about that so we started clapping for him then suddenly he just started walking towards me. Not one or two steps but like, ten steps!! He just kept going. It was such a thrill because I literally did not see that coming. It was so cool that we were on FaceTime and my Mom watched it all happen. I totally cried because I'm that Mom who cries at stuff like that.
Now we've been practicing a lot with Campbell and he'll take 2-3 steps at a time. He obviously prefers crawling still as his way of getting around but now I know that walking is just right around the corner. I think he feels more confident to try it now so we'll just keep on working until he gets it down. Although I'm not in any major hurry because crawling is still just the cutest thing in the world to me! I'm glad Campbell's crawled for a long time so I could enjoy that little stage for a few months instead of a few weeks like some babies.
Sorry, I know that was super detailed but I wanted to be able to write it down for my memory. Life with Campbell is just so fun and exciting right now. I can't believe I'll be having a walking baby around my house soon.

Happy Birthday Scott!

Today is my sweet husband's birthday. We celebrated with friends over the weekend. Everyone came to our house and Scott grilled sliders while we all spent the evening outside enjoying the beautiful weather and each others company. It was fun and I'm glad we have so many awesome friends (who are also our neighbors!!) to spend our weekends with. We didn't do anything super special today. Scott requested Taziki's for lunch then he decided to take off from working a little early so we could hang out at home and play with our little peanut. I did actually manage to pull off a fun birthday present for Scott and surprise him with tickets to go see Dave Matthews tomorrow night!!! DMB is coming to our awesome little town and I've had this planned for months now. We're going with some friends and I can't wait!! It's going to be such a good time.
Happy Birthday Scott! I hope you'll enjoy your birthday present as much as I will!! :)

Books

Campbell had MDO today and for the first time in like, ever I had absolutely nothing to do. I decided to go to Barnes and Noble and pick out a few new books for Campbell. He is SUPER into books right now, especially the touch and feel ones. We don't have many touch and feel books so I grabbed a few new ones since they seem to be his favorite at the moment. I love, love that he is so into books. We read before bedtime every night now and always end with his two favorites, Moo Baa La La La and Doggies.
On Sunday Campbell said his first real word!!! Mom and Dad were getting ready to leave and Dad was waving to Campbell and said "bye bye Campbell" and Campbell looked at his Pops, waved his hand and said "bye bye." We all gasped and clapped and cheered so loud!! It just gets more and more fun! Of course Campbell hasn't said it since. Why do babies do something and then not do it again for soooo long?
Campbell and I have nothing on our agenda for tomorrow. We may end up having pajama day.
