Switch

Happy Friday folks! This little guy has been sleeping so good all week! We had another night of him sleeping all night long. Woo Hoo!!! The last two nights he's woken up at 4:00 but I don't mind. It's much better than that 3:00-3:30 time that he seemed to get in a habit of and I'm hoping he's broken that now.
I switched up our nighttime routine and instead of swaddling him with one arm out I've swaddled him all the way again. For naps too. It's definitely made a difference. I've also started giving him a bottle for his dream feed instead of nursing him. I did that with Campbell too but was wanting to avoid it with Bennett because pumping is so annoying. I always noticed Bennett would sleep longer if he took a good dream feed but most of the time he would just fall asleep while eating. The bottle gets him to eat more so it looks like this may be my new thing until he's ready to drop that dream feed. Hopefully just another 4-8 weeks or so. We're definitely moving in the right direction now instead of being stuck like we have been for the last month. Campbell was sleeping 10:30-7:00 by 13 weeks so Bennett only has a little over 2 weeks if he wants to beat his brothers time! Let's cross our fingers that he's competitive and wants to win this one!!
That's pretty much all that's going on in our life right now. I'm working hard on getting Bennett's schedule just right so he sleeps because Momma needs her sleep! Bennett needs his sleep too so his brain can grow and he can learn new things! It's a win for everyone really.
Y'all have a good weekend and I'll see you back here on Monday!

  1. Back again lol! What are y'all doing schedule wise now? I'm drowning over here with how difficult Reece is and feel like my girls are getting totally neglected most days :(

    1. I'm still doing the same schedule we've been on. I've started putting him down for bed around 7:30 though which is nice! 🙃
I honestly think the tight swaddle is what's made him sleep better because I nursed him for his dream feed last night (instead of the bottle) and he woke up at 4.
Have you ever heard of Moms on Call? It's a very similar concept to babywise. I wonder if he would respond better to it? It's a super quick book you can read and really easy to understand. They have an app with the specific schedule you should follow for your babies age. You may want to look into it! I have the app on my phone and look at it occasionally. I attempted to do it with Bennett but MOC is a 3 hour schedule and Bennett couldn't seem to go longer than 2.5 so I just did babywise.

  2. Girl yes I've tried both haha. But I can't do feeds at certain times in the evening due to my girls having tumbling severs times a week from 5-6. I tell you having 2 older kids where you're on the go screws things up!! Do you just feed at 6 and 7:30 now? I'm seriously trying it all haha!

    1. Well shoot!!
Yes last night I fed Bennett at 6 (in the Walmart parking lot 😜) then again at 7:30 after his bath. Our evenings are sometimes crazy and it's not uncommon for him to be up for 2 straight hours or take a 10 minute cat nap in the evening but he's not fussy so I just roll with it. I prefer for his wake time to be a little longer in the evening so he'll be super tired and go down quicker...but not too tired of course!
Have you done any CIO? 😬

  3. Hey I'm willing to try anything at this point. It doesn't help that he is awful at nursing despite working with a LC and having lip and tongue tied revised. Boy is killing me

    1. I'm sorry. I empathize with you! Campbell was SO hard. Hardest times of my life no doubt. I do CIO. I honestly feel like it's the best way for them to learn. I did it with Campbell. Started earlier with Bennett. I don't have to do it much anymore though because he caught on pretty quick. I think the younger they are the faster they learn. I had a moment where I was like "okay I love you but don't have time for this, it's officially time for you to figure it out." And he did.
