Campbell Is 8!

Our sweet Campbell turned eight years old today! He is growing up at lightening speed these days. I truly remember my days where it was just he and I like it was yesterday. Campbell was such a hard baby but ended up being the easiest toddler and continues to be an easy going kid with a sweet demeanor and tender heart.

Campbell loves all things Pokemon. He loves collecting the cards and figurines, he loves reading pokemon books and he loves playing Pokémon games on his Switch. When not obsessing over Pokemon, Campbell loves riding his bike, playing gaga ball, reading books (Dogman is his favorite), and playing baseball. Campbell loves collecting things. He is for sure a homebody but he enjoys school and we’re so proud of how much he is growing and learning in his academics.

Since Campbells birthday always falls over spring break, we decided last year to start a tradition to come to Big Cedar with the whole family to celebrate it. We had a blast last year and now we’re back! We love our time here to hang out and have fun with family. Campbell gets to do a lot of really cool and fun things and he always has a great time.

Happy Birthday Campbell! I don’t think I could ever articulate into words just how proud I am of you. I love your sweet and gentle spirit. I love to watch you get excited about things. I have loved watching you grow into a kind young man. I hope you never change. You are everything I ever hoped you would be and the last eight years have been the best of my life. I love you!!

Back To School

Back to school! Today was Campbell and Bennett's first day of school. Campbell is in 2nd and Bennett is now a kindergartner!!

The boys were excited to go to school! Bennett was full of confidence and has been looking forward to this moment for two years now. He couldn't wait to go to kindergarten and I'm just dying to know what he thinks about it. I can't wait to hear all about it when I pick him up! Thankfully Bennett will tell me all about it too. His brother usually just says "it was good" and that's about all I get. Ha! Bennett's teacher seems absolutely precious and I feel so thankful he is her student this year. I can tell Bennett already feels comfortable around her and I know he is just absolutely going to love kindergarten! I couldn't even bring myself to feel emotional about Bennett being such a big boy now because he was so excited to be there. I'm so happy for him.

Campbell was excited for school to start. He has two friends in his class so that made him really happy. He was a little bit nervous when he woke up this morning and he started shutting down a little as I was walking him to his class. When I was saying goodbye he was fighting back tears which didn't surprise me. Campbell is just like me when it comes to emotions so I know exactly what he's feeling: excited, nervous, homesick already, looking forward to the year, happy to be there, wishes his momma could stay because that would make it perfect. He may look like his daddy but he is just like me when it comes to all those big feelings. I know it didn't take him too long after I left for him to perk up. I hope he'll share more than a few words with me about how his day went. Just like last year, he didn't want me to pack him a lunch. Campbell LOVES the school lunch hahahaha and I didn't pack him lunch one single time last year. Makes it so nice and easy for me!

I hope both of my boys have a wonderful year. We have been blessed with amazing teachers in the past and I hope that continues for us this year. Campbell seems like an old pro at school at this point. I hope he learns a lot and grows a lot academically. I hope school comes easy to him and that he enjoys learning. I'm so excited to watch Bennett's little mind expand this year. He will learn so much and I'm excited to watch it happen. He is going to love learning and he's so good at it too. Bennett is patient and doesn't get frustrated if he can't get something right away--he will try and try until he masters something which is such a fantastic skill.

My house is eerily quiet today and Wells and I weren't so sure what to do with ourselves so we decided to go have a lunch date then pick up some fun treats for Campbell and Bennett to have for when they get home from school. Anxiously awaiting to see how their day went!

Campbell Lost A Tooth!

Big day today!! Campbell lost his very first tooth! He has been looking forward to this day for a long, long time. Ha!

His tooth has obviously been loose for a while. Every few nights he's asked us to pull it but it just wasn't quite loose enough to come out. Today he got home from school and showed me his tooth and it was barely hanging on!! So we went to his bathroom right away and he pulled it out himself. He pulled it, looked down at it and made the quietest, sweetest little gasp.

I stood by with my camera to capture it then cried like a crazy momma when it was over. Why is my boy getting so big on me?! He has another right next to it that isn't far behind. The tooth fairy might be stopping by our house twice this week!

Campbell is so excited and proud. It does seem like everyone else his age has already lost a tooth. Campbell's teeth came in really late so I'm not surprised that they have taken so long to come out. And I've kept telling Campbell how good it is that he's kept his baby teeth for so long!! Now his sweet little smile is on it's way to looking so different. My sweet boy is growing up!

Campbell's First Day of First Grade

Back to school for Campbell!! Today was his first day of first grade. I'm anxiously waiting to pick him up so I can hear all about his day!! He never offers up as much info about his days as Bennett does so I'll have to work hard to get out of him what I can.

Campbell was super excited to go back to school today! He woke up with a pep in his step and was anxious to get going. I made him a big breakfast and he watched Puppy Dog Pals on TV while he ate. Last night we made sure everything in his backpack was all set to go. It has to be the largest and heaviest backpack he's ever carried since he didn't get to drop his school supplies off ahead of time!! We snapped a couple of quick photos (he's so easy with the photos these days, bless it) and he was anxious to get going!!
Our school is super, super close to our neighborhood so Campbell gets to walk to school! It's so great. Our house is a little too far from the school to walk so I always drive us to the gate of the neighborhood, park, and then we walk. I am always thankful that Campbell is a "walker" but I was especially thankful for it this year. None of the parents were able to walk their kids to their classrooms but since we walk, I was at least able to walk Campbell to the front door of the school. I saw a lot of Mommas in car line with tears in their eyes watching their babies head into school. It made me sad. However, every kid I saw looked so excited and confident to be there! It didn't really feel like the first day of school, it felt like a regular day of school, but that's okay!

Campbell was so happy and confident. A major difference compared to last year!! I was so proud of him for being such a big, brave boy. He asked while we were driving from our house to the neighborhood gate if he could watch the video of how to get to his classroom one last time. He watched it and felt certain he knew how to make it there. I walked him to the front door of the school and he didn't even bother to give me a hug goodbye. He walked right through the doors and didn't even look back! I'm also 100% positive that he woke up today looking bigger. When I was going through the photos I took of him this morning, I was shocked to see how grown up he looked and I know it's not my mind playing tricks on me. I can't wait to hear what he thought about his day!!

Kindergarten Graduate

Campbell graduated kindergarten today! It feels so crazy because I'm pretty sure just yesterday I was an anxious mess waiting on him to get home from his first day of school. The first week of kindergarten was hard and Campbell cried every day. I had a moment where I wasn't sure how it was going to work out and I had such a pit in my stomach every day that week, nervous for my little boy in a new big world.
However, he quickly feel in love with his new school, his new friends and especially his new teacher. It truly ended up being the most amazing year! We adore his school and all of the staff there. Campbell made so many new friends and I did too in his friends moms! I was a home room mom and had so much fun being involved and planning parties. I enjoyed going to have lunch with Campbell a couple of times and getting a chance to chat with the sweet teachers aids. It was overall just a fantastic experience. I cannot say enough good things.
Campbell's teacher came by our house today to drop off a graduation certificate and a special little prize. He was given the "Exceptional Leadership" award but most importantly, Campbell was SO excited to see his sweet teacher for the first time in over two months. When she left, he cried off and on all day long....and cried himself to sleep. He ADORES her and is SO sad that he can't be in kindergarten/her class anymore.
With the exception of how the year ended, our first year of school was such a huge success. It's incredible to see how much Campbell learned. He can read and do math. He has learned so much history and a lot about the planet. He truly came out of this year a whole new person. It's fun and exciting to see his mind grow and expand. I think he's ready for a little learning break (that makes two of us!) but hopefully he'll enjoy doing some light summer reading with his new collection of Dr Seuss books he's gotten! We are so proud of our Campbell and I can't believe in a few short months he will officially be a first grader!

Campbell is Six!

Today our Campbell turns six years old!! He is an amazing little boy and we are so proud of him! Campbell has had a wonderful year in kindergarten. It is incredible to see how much he has learned in school this year and has been so fun to watch. He can read and he loves math. He also loves all of the friends he has made this year and his teacher is so amazing. We have been blessed with a fantastic first year of school and hope we get to go back before the year is over.
Campbell is still such a huge fan of dinosaurs!! He can tell you anything and everything you want to know about them. He has library almost every week at school and every single time he's had library, he has come home with a different dinosaur book. Aside from dinosaurs, Campbell has recently gotten into Pokémon, Ninjago, and Star Wars--thanks to our recent trip to Disney. Campbell also loves watching YouTube much to my distaste but whatever.
A little less than two weeks ago, Campbell finally decided he was ready to try riding his bike without training wheels. He picked it up that same day and now he rides his bike like a pro! He is always asking if he can go outside and ride his bike so if it isn't raining outside, that's what we're doing!
Campbell has changed SO much this year. I knew he would but it's so crazy to think about. He is a different person in a lot of ways but one thing that hasn't changed is his sweet spirit. I am always getting told by the different teachers at his school what a sweet and precious boy he is. He was given a special award at school in November for always having positive behavior, being on task and offering help to anyone in need. These awards are special to receive and I was and am so proud of Campbell for being such a sweet soul. He doesn't have to be the smartest or most athletic but if he is always kind then that makes me more proud than anything else in this world.
Campbell's favorite food is pasta, his favorite snack is candy (not chocolate) and his favorite color is rainbow. He loves playing with his dinosaurs and he really enjoys doing arts and crafts and playing board games. Campbell's favorite sport is baseball and he can't wait to play again this spring.
Happy 6th Birthday Campbell!! We love you and are so proud of the sweet boy you are. We cannot wait to celebrate you today and hopefully give you the best day ever!!!!

Admitted.

Last week was quite the week. Last Monday I had shared that Campbell was diagnosed with the flu. When he tested positive, he honestly didn't seem THAT bad. He had a high fever but it came down fairly well with medicine. He was pretty chipper and sat in quarantine all day playing with his iPad. I assumed him getting the flu shot in the fall was helping his symptoms not be so bad and thought he was handling the flu way better than I would be! On Tuesday his fever was lower than it had been the day before and again, he didn't seem to be too bad. Scott and I both assumed he would wake up on Wednesday fever free and that by Friday we would send him back to school.
Wrong.
He did a 180 on Wednesday and woke up with a really high fever again. This time he was looking pretty terrible. He wasn't eating or drinking much and he actually vomited right before bed. I had a bad feeling. It just didn't seem right for him to be going backwards. On Thursday morning he woke me up first thing by coming in my room, slightly crying. I flew out of bed as soon as I saw him standing there and asked him if he had thrown up. He just shook his head no. I knew then he was crying because he was feeling absolutely miserable. His fever was the highest it had been yet. I decided to take him back to the doctor just to be on the safe side. When we got there, they diagnosed him with pneumonia. So flu + pneumonia. Sounds pretty awful. She told us to go home and see if he could handle eating popsicles. She said he could have as many as he wanted and that hopefully they would bring his fever down and get him hydrated. If that didn't work, we would need to take him to the hospital. We got home and started giving him popsicles but he couldn't keep them down. I started getting worried so I called her and asked if we should go to the hospital and she said we should absolutely get him down there. She called ahead to let them know we were coming. I packed a little bag for me and Campbell--I had a feeling we would be there a while. Campbell cried on the drive down because he was scared. It broke my heart.
We got checked in to the ER and all of the doctors and nurses commented on how terrible he looked. They immediately gave him some IV fluids. Bless his heart, he cried while they did it but he was really sweet and still and just asked "are you done yet?" because of course they couldn't find the vein since he was so dehydrated so it took forever. He ended up falling asleep for a bit and after we were there a couple of hours, the doctor came in the room to tell us she wanted to admit Campbell. She said there was no way she would send him home and he needed to stay because of how dehydrated he was. By this point it was pretty late at night. Campbell looked exhausted. We got settled in and little did I know I was in for a loooong night. The nurses kept coming in about every hour to check on Campbell. It was one thing after another. His oxygen levels got low so they had to give him oxygen which he hated. While he was trying to sleep, it would come out so they would have to come back in, wake him up, and fix it. They were constantly checking his vitals, a machine was always beeping, and Campbell did not get the rest he so desperately needed. I sent Scott an email at 2:30 letting him know I hadn't been to sleep yet and that it had been a rough night so far. Then I sent him another email at 4:30 telling him I still hadn't gotten one minute of sleep yet. Around 5:00 they finally stayed out for longer than an hour and I think I may have slept for two hours. I also just had a lot of anxiety so I had a hard time falling asleep.
That next morning Campbell woke up seemingly better. The doctors decided to see how he would do without the IV and encouraged him to walk around a little. Unfortunately, it was just too much for him and he quickly took a nosedive. Scott and I knew that sealed our fate for another night in the hospital. However, that afternoon, he had a super sweet pick-me-up. His kindergarten teacher came by, as soon as school was out, to see Campbell. He was so excited when he saw her that it made him cry. She gave him cards from each of his classmates, all wishing him to get better soon. It made him so happy and gave him a boost of energy. The cards are so precious. I'm keeping them forever!
Everyone was being so kind to us while we were at the hospital. I asked for our friends to please pray for Campbell to wake up the next day feeling a lot better and for us both to be able to get really good rest, since we didn't the night before. I ended up taking my own sheets to the hospital and did my best to make my little bed as comfortable as it could be which I actually succeeded at believe it or not. Ha! We had different nurses that evening, and they were precious. SO quiet, so gentle....they were able to check Campbell's vitals without even waking him up. I woke up the next morning, in my comfy bed with my soft sheets, floored at how good we slept. The best sleep I've ever gotten in a hospital. I just had a moment of thankfulness because nobody sleeps good in a hospital--but we did--because we had so many people praying that we would. I love that feeling in your heart when you know something happened for you because you prayed it would. Campbell slept in late, I snuck down to the family room to make a coffee, and watched HGTV in my comfy bed with such a feeling of peace. It was a good moment to be still and give praise. Campbell woke up looking so great that by noon we were discharged and got to go home! The night before I honestly wasn't sure if we would get to go home that next day but because we had so many people praying for us we left before lunch! Amazing!!
Campbell immediately headed to his room to reunite with his dinosaurs. He was so happy to be back. When he walked in the door Bennett said "Campbell are you feeling better? I'm so glad!" and it was such a sweet little moment! I asked Campbell on the way home if he was ready to see Bennett and he said "Mmm hmmm...I'm going to give him a hug as soon as I see him!"
Campbell went back to school today! He probably could have gone yesterday but we wanted to make sure he had an extra day at home to be still and recover fully. He was so happy to see his friends and tell him his hospital stories. LOL. He looks and acts so good! You wouldn't even know he had spent last week in the hospital.
We had a stressful week but we have so much to be thankful for. It's amazing how many people rally around you when you're in a time of need. There are so many incredible prayer warriors in my life and I'm so thankful. I have so many thoughtful friends who provided us meals and gave Campbell get-well gifts....just so kind! It reminded me that I need to be better about that when others are in a time of need because it meant so much to me. Even though being in a hospital is never fun, I was thankful to be at Childrens where they took such good care of Campbell. I had such a peace of mind knowing he was okay since he was in their hands. I am also beyond thankful that somehow, none of the rest of us managed to catch Campbell's flu virus. That in itself seems like a miracle!! And finally, I'm so thankful that we are healthy. You realize, even if you just have a sore throat, how important good health is and I'm so thankful for good health for myself and my family. So many people go through so much worse than a short stint in the hospital for the flu and pneumonia and dehydration. I'm just very thankful that my family is back under one roof together and healthy.

Baseball

Campbell has been playing baseball this fall and we have all enjoyed it so much! Most importantly, Campbell absolutely loves it! He is so happy while he's playing and listens to his coaches so well. We have one practice and one game every week and I seriously look forward to his games. We did soccer in the spring and it was cute and Campbell enjoyed it but baseball is on a whole different level. It's a little more serious and giving us a taste of what life is going to be like with all of these boys of ours playing team sports and I am here for it!!
I don't know if this will be the sport Campbell chooses to stick with or not. We plan on letting him try them all to see which he likes best. But he's doing really good at baseball and has a smile on his face the whole time so I can see him possibly wanting to stick with this sport. I love baseball and enjoy watching it and seeing my cute little guy out there makes it even more fun!!
We have games until mid-November and I'll be sad when it's over. They offer a spring league and Campbell said he wants to do it. I'm not sure if he'll be on the same team or not. I would love it if he was. But regardless, this has been so much more fun than I ever anticipated it would be. Campbell and his teammates all get better each week and it has been such a delight to watch them play!

First Week of Kindergarten

We survived our first week of kindergarten! I am SOOO exhausted, haha!! The new routine and little bit of anxiety from the week has worn me out. I'm glad it's Friday so we can take a few days to reset and relax before we start over. Fridays (and Monday's) have a whole new meaning to me now!!
Campbell's first day of kindergarten went exactly as I expected. He cried at drop off and I counted down the minutes until I got to pick him up. We walked Campbell to school but thought it would be easier to drive to pick him up. We sat in the car line for over an hour and vowed to never do it again! I know they were working out kinks and I honestly wasn't frustrated at the situation because they warned us that may happen. We just figured why drive when we're so close. Campbell was happy and smiley when we picked him up and we looked forward to doing it all over again the next day.
On the second day of kindergarten I woke up at 4:55. I have no idea why but I never could go back to sleep so I just got up and hit the peloton. We had always planned on Scott taking Campbell to school but Campbell wanted me to do it this week. When I dropped Campbell off, he fought the tears back pretty hard. It made me sad but I wasn't surprised. At least it was improvement from the day before where he flat out cried. As soon as I dropped him off I went to the office to change him from being a "car rider" to a "walker." Being a walker is wonderful! The bell rings and a group of kiddos literally walk out of the door instantly. I had Campbell back to our house 9 minutes after school let out. When Campbell saw me, he cried with relief. It broke my heart. I had a moment where I thought "this isn't going to work for us" and then I was like "well, I guess we don't really have much of a choice though" Ha!! Campbell had, had a stressful day. He left his lunchbox on the playground and I guess he realized it when he was in music and he said he started crying. Thankfully someone found his lunchbox and returned it to his teacher. But that was obviously very stressful for him because I can't ever get him to talk about anything that happened during the day but he was quick to inform me about his traumatizing lunchbox loss. I prayed real hard for the next day to be better.
To our surprise, Campbell has woken up on his own every morning at 6:30. He has always slept until 7:00 on the dot for basically his entire life. We've been making sure he's asleep by 7:30 every night and I think he just crashes so hard that he wakes up at 6:30 feeling rested and ready to go! This has been such a nice thing for Scott and I. We had planned on waking Campbell up at 6:45 every day but he comes down on his own at 6:30, crawls in our bed, and eats breakfast while he watches a show. It's been nice that he has 45 minutes to just be before getting his day started. Our third day drop off went much better. No a smile, but not a frown. I informed his teacher that we were struggling and I'm glad I did because she took Campbell under her arm and told him about all of the fun things they were planning that day. He perked up and I snuck out. When I picked him up he was smiling so big and told me all kinds of things about his day like who he played with on the playground and something about Pete the Cat.
Drop off today was a million times better. Campbell informed me halfway into our walk to school that he didn't need me to walk him to class. But we brought Bennett along with us and he wanted to see Campbell's classroom so I tagged along with my suddenly brave boy. Campbell was proud to show Bennett his school. When we picked him up, he was so happy and seemed so much older than he did at the start of the week. A weight was lifted off my shoulders.
I woke up at 4:55 again this morning (what is this?) and decided to just get up and go to the gym. I managed to get my Peloton workout in every day this week and I'm glad. I wasn't sure if it would work out with the new schedule but it looks like it's going to....or maybe it's just that I think I need to wake up while the moon is still out, I have no idea. Regardless, our week went smoothly (minus the tears part) however, I'm just so tired. I think I'm mentally zapped. I'm looking forward to the weekend and hopefully Campbell is excited to go back to school on Monday. Starting Monday parents are no longer allowed to walk them to class and that just stresses me out(!!) but I know Campbell knows how to get to class and he'll be just fine. Lots of growing up and changes this week for our family. Big week for us that I'm sure we'll always remember.

Campbell Goes To Kindergarten

It's official. We have a kindergartner! Campbell had his very first day of school today. He woke up excited and ready to go. I woke up at 4:55 am and could not go back to sleep. I finally just got up and showered so I could have plenty of time to settle into my morning before our big day.
I made Campbell breakfast, Scott woke him up and carried him to our room, and Campbell watched Bubble Guppies in our bed while he ate his breakfast. He was happy and calm and happily obliged to any request we asked of him. Once he was all dressed and had a (semi) fully belly of breakfast, we took some photos then headed to school!
Our school is a brand new school and it just so happens to be walking distance from our house. So we walked to school today (and will be every day after my eyes saw that traffic--no thank you!). We made it from our house to Campbell's classroom in about 7 minutes. Once we got to Campbell's class, we found his seat --right by the teachers desk! Then we found his cubby and hung his backpack up, then he walked back to his seat and immediately started stacking blocks that were on his table.
All was well in Campbell's world until I told him Mommy and Daddy needed to leave. His face instantly changed to panic. I guess he thought it would be like our open house last week where we all went and stayed for a little bit, then left together. He started crying and Scott tried to talk me into walking out but I could. not. leave. I pointed out all of the friends in his class he knows, told him I had a surprise for him in his lunch box, but nothing helped the tears. So I just got on my knees, held him close and we prayed. We prayed for peace, to be brave, and to be happy. We prayed for a great day and a calm spirit. Then Scott gave him one last hug while Campbell cried in his arms. My heart was breaking. Campbell stood up to walk to me and his teacher gave him a big hug and told him about all the fun they were going to have while Scott and I snuck out.....and I cried for the next two hours.
I knew deep in my heart that Campbell would be okay. I knew he would cry when we dropped him off but I also knew he would recover quickly. I was still so anxious and counting down the hours until I could get to him. I was so ready to hear how his day went.
After we sat in the car line for ONE HOUR to pick him up (never doing that again) I finally saw his sweet little face walking towards me. He was wearing the biggest smile and his face has never looked so precious. He got in the car and declared he "really likes kindergarten!" He told me how much he likes his teacher and his friends even though he doesn't know their names yet. There is a little boy he sat next to at lunch that has the same lunch box as Campbell and the same backpack too! And that's about all I got out of him but the smile and happiness he exuded was enough for me to know that he had a great day! It's not even 8:00 PM but I'm about to crawl in bed and call it. This momma is exhausted and looking forward to doing it all over again tomorrow! Minus the crying part....hopefully we don't repeat that.

The Night Before Kindergarten

"Dear God, I pray I have a good day, make friends, and love my teacher. Amen."
Campbell goes to kindergarten tomorrow. He is nervous and worried. I'm anxious and sad. This morning I was prepping fruit in my kitchen. Washing it, cutting it up, and getting it all ready to easily throw in a lunch box this week. And I was so emotional. I was thinking about Campbell as a baby and how I always knew, when he was a baby, that this day would come and how different it would make my life. Now here we are. We got here fast.
Deep inside my heart I am excited for Campbell. I really believe he is going to love kindergarten. I think he's going to make a lot of new friends and enjoy learning. Right now, the night before he goes to kindergarten, I am a nervous wreck. He cried when we said goodnight tonight and said "I want you to stay with me." It was all I could do to hold the tears back and not cry with him. This kindergarten world is so big and unknown to Campbell and not knowing what to expect is scary. I honestly have no idea if he'll cry when we leave or if he'll put on a brave face. But I know it won't take him long to warm up and feel okay.
It's scary to hand my baby over. I think of him walking to his class all by himself and he just seems so young to be doing that. What if he gets lost? The building is so big for a five year old. I imagine him standing in the lunch line. Will he speak loud enough to tell the ladies what he wants to eat? Will they understand him? What if he drops his lunch tray while he's walking to his table. What if someone is mean to him? If he needs to go to the bathroom, will he feel okay asking to go? What if he needs a hug?
I've kept my baby safe and loved for his entire life and now this big world is going to be opened up to him. He's going to be forced to become a lot more mature and a little more brave. I'm so excited to see him grow and shine but I sure am going to miss my buddy. Our sweet, simple days at home are no longer. It feels surreal. It's bittersweet. It's going to be sad tomorrow but it's also exciting. All the feelings, all the emotions. I pray my sweet boy has an amazing day, and an amazing year.
Okay kindergarten, let's do this!!

Just Keep Swimming

We had a big weekend with our biggest boy. Campbell finally got the hang of swimming and now he's acting like he's been doing it all summer long!
Campbell and Bennett have been in swim lessons all summer. I've had a lot of guilt in not putting them in lessons last summer. I wanted to but I was SO sick all summer long from being in my first trimester with Wells and I just couldn't do it. I couldn't do anything. So I have been anxious to get them in lessons this summer. We haven't missed a lesson and have gone every single week. At first Campbell was terrified and he cried. For the longest time I was so worried I had waited too long to do this. Slowly he began to get more comfortable in the water but he's SO cautious and wouldn't push himself too far. I told Scott I was worried we weren't going to get it this summer and we talked about joining a local community center so we could keep up with the swim lessons. But then, something clicked for him while we were at my parents house over the weekend. It literally came out of nowhere but he suggested jumping in the pool and swimming across. My mom and I were both there in the pool with him so we said okay! And he swam across the pool like he had been doing it all along. I was shocked! And so proud!!! And also so relived.
Campbell was SO proud of himself. And that was that. He just kept going and going and pushing himself to go farther and farther. I ended up grabbing the GoPro and Campbell obliged me with some super cool underwater shots that I just LOVE.
I'm so proud of Campbell for being brave and diving in, literally. Something I have learned with him is that he is very timid to try something but once he gets enough confidence to go for it, he always does great and puts his best foot forward. And that's all I could ever want from him--to just try his best. So proud of my little fishy!

Summer Vibes

Coming up on my final week at home with this sweet boy. I can't believe it. We've taken advantage of our week with a lot of summer fun + late nights. Next week it's early bedtimes and early wake ups so we can get prepared and on a good schedule for KINDERGARTEN!! School starts at 7:30 (what?!) and since Campbell doesn't usually wake up until about 7:15, this may be a bit of an adjustment for us. We meet his teacher and classmates in less than a week and I'm so anxious for it. I pray he has a sweet teacher that he loves and makes so many new friends. And if someone was in his class that he already knows, I would consider that to be the greatest blessing ever just to help him ease into the newness of it all. I'm praying a lot about kindergarten these days and I know whatever the Lord's plan is for Campbell's year will be the best plan. Can't believe my baby boy is big enough for this. He's such a great kid and I know he's going to love school. But for now, our last little bit of summer fun!
