The 15 hour flight was bearable for the first 10 hours. After that I wanted to go crazy!! It wasn't as bad as a 15 hour car ride but it still wasn't fun. I was really hoping I was going to get more sleep than what I did. I slept for maybe 3 hours on the plane. I was utterly exhausted. We arrived in Shanghai around 6 pm and got to our hotel around 8. By 8:30 we were all in the bed and by 9 we were passed out. I slept good and hard! We all woke up around 6 am the next morning and got dressed, ate a big breakfast buffet at our hotel (Hilton), and headed out to see the big city!
I wanted to go to this place that Scott's Grandpa had suggested I see. It's called the Dongtai Antique Market. It's this secret little place that isn't touristy and filled with all unique things that you could only find here. We got there and were immediately intrigued! FOUR hours later we left. We found the neatest things and I feel so lucky that Grandpa used to live here and knew to tell me about it.
After the market we went to the "5th avenue" of Shanghai. It was really neat to see but we didn't want to spend a whole lot of time there. We're more interested in the more 'local' stuff. We headed to the Pearl Market after and spend probably 3 hours there. It was way cool and I got TONS of goodies that I'm very excited about!
A nice Italian dinner later, we were exhausted and went to bed.
It's 8am now and we're going BACK to the Pearl Market and Dongtai. We won't stay as long but we all decided there were a few things that we really wanted to get but didn't! Ha! Okay. Dad wants to Skype. I wanted to Skype with Scott but he's not home. Bummer. I miss him and Holly already! Talk to you guys tomorrow hopefully!!
