First Steps

Happy Monday everybody! I hope y'all had a fun weekend. We did! My brother, SIL, and niece came up for a visit and we had a great time. Campbell and Avery are such good buddies and they wore themselves out with all of the fun they had together....as did Bennett who is not one to be left out of anything. My brother went to the game but the rest of us stayed behind. We went to lunch, the mall and the park to play instead, then caught the game on TV.

Shortly after I took this photo, Bennett {finally} decided to take his first steps! I guess it's how he wanted to celebrate his 16 month birthday. He took several steps two separate times and we were so proud. He didn't feel like doing it at all yesterday but he's walked so much today! He feels like such a big boy and now that he's gotten over the fear of doing it alone, I think he's about to just take off. This kid has been soooo slow at the "big" milestones. He didn't sit up until he was 8 months old, crawl until 4 days after his birthday, and walk the day he turned 16 months old. If I were a first time mom I probably would have been freaking out but I knew with each milestone he'd do it when he was ready and I patiently waited for him to get there. Bennett is extra cautious (both of my kids are) so it's fitting of his personality to not do something until he felt completely confident.

I had some dental work done this morning and the procedure itself was no biggie but since the numbness from the shot wore off this afternoon, I've been in a lot of pain. I don't like going to the dentist. I told him before he got started that I would rather be in labor and I totally mean it. Labor over dentist any day. I have one tooth that likes to give me trouble every couple of years. Stupid tooth. Thankfully it's over with and also thankfully I still have a few pain meds from after Bennett was born. I didn't need many of them after I birthed a child but I need them for this tiny tooth in my head. Go figure.
