Campbell's First Birthday Party {Part 2}

I had so much fun getting prepared for Campbell's party. I didn't realize how much it wore me out though! I slept until noon on Sunday!!! Who knew a baby's first birthday party could wear you out that much?! It wore Campbell out too. He slept an hour longer than he usually does. We're all recovered now, and have been eating the leftover party food ever since.
I didn't want to deal with cooking any food so we had Campbell's party catered. The food was delicious and I didn't have to mess with hardly anything so that was a bonus. We served everyone lunch since the party was at 12:00. Campbell naps in the afternoon so noon was kind of the only option.
I love the way Campbell's chalkboard poster turned out! I had my Dad's artist do it for me and I think it's so cute!! I had everyone write a little note for Campbell in his "Oh The Places You'll Go" book. I'm sure he'll treasure it forever!
My friend, Kristin, has an Etsy shop and sells the cutest party supplies. She did this dot garland for me (and the glitter 1 in the photo above) and it was so cute!! It added a special little touch to the party. If you're looking for cute party supplies, check out her goods HERE.
"Life is so good right now"
"I wonder if it would be easier if I just picked the whole thing up."
"Mom. You have to try this cake. It's the best thing I've ever eaten."
"After I wake up from my afternoon nap I'm going to feel completely disgusting and have the biggest food coma ever. I won't want to do anything except sit in my Momma's lap for about an hour and a half while I try to recover but it's totally worth it."
I love Campbell's outfit! I've been saving it for him to wear for his birthday since January. He'll probably only get to wear it this one time since the weather is changing and that makes me sad but I'm glad we got some cute pictures of him in it. Later Saturday night I decided to wash it and when I pulled it out of the washer it shrunk to a newborn size. I panicked! I immediately checked the tag and it said 'hand wash only'. I was so mad at myself. I pulled and stretched on it for probably five minutes and I'm happy to report it's gone back to it's normal size!! Whew! Close call. Might be a good idea to read washing instructions from now on.

That's a wrap! My Dad took a ton of pics on his camera that I haven't seen yet. So it's possible I may bombard you with more birthday party pics in the near future. Thanks for letting me go on and on and on about my baby turning one and all of the festivities that surrounded it!

Campbell's First Birthday Party

We had a great time hosting Campbell's first birthday party. Our house was filled with our closest friends and family to celebrate our little peanut and we felt so loved! I have tons and tons of photos from the party that I want to share with you guys so I'm going to make his party into a two part series so you don't get overwhelmed with photos!
First, we have to start with Campbell's cake!!!
I've known since before I was pregnant that I wanted to do a "Oh The Places You'll Go" party for my little boys first birthday. I think it's such a cute concept and the book is one of my favorites of Dr. Seuss. When I went to order Campbell's cake, I told the owner of the bakery that I wasn't real sure how I wanted it to look so she pulled out a piece of paper and did some quick sketches and came up with this idea. I love, love how it turned out! We did the bottom tier in vanilla, the middle tier was red velvet and the top tear was snicker doodle. It tasted just as delicious as it looks!
Before Campbell's party I predicted what he would do with his smash cake and he did EXACTLY what I predicted. At first he didn't know what to do with it because he never knows what to do with food when it isn't broken up into little pieces. Eventually he got going and he loved it, of course. I let him go to town on it for a little bit before I decided he'd had enough sugar. When I took the cake away from him he cried and cried. I knew he would. He's just so predictable these days and he really loves food so when it gets taken away from him before he's done he's not happy.
After Campbell ate his cake, we cleaned him up then let him open up his presents. He has so many new fun toys! I have no idea what to do with them all!! We are so blessed to have so many great friends that love Campbell and wanted to celebrate his first year with us.
I love this pic of me and my little peanut. It's one of my favorites to date :)

March 26, 2015

We had such a great day celebrating Campbell's birthday yesterday. We're having a fun party with all of our closest friends and family tomorrow so we kind of held off doing much celebrating on his actual birthday. We still made the day special though and I'll always remember it!
Campbell slept in on his birthday and decided to wake up at 7:15 instead of 7:00 am. Crazy kid. We kicked off his birthday with two of his favorite foods--pancakes and blueberries!
After breakfast we went up to our bonus room to play like we always do except instead of making Campbell watch Good Morning America I let him watch Mickey Mouse--Pirate Adventure. I also let him open up a present from Mommy and Daddy----Mickey and Donald bath toys! After playing for a few hours Campbell took a nap and when he woke up we went to lunch at McAlisters.
After lunch I took Campbell to a really fun toy store here in NWA called Dilly Dally's. He had a blast playing with all of the toys and I had fun too! Before we knew it, it was time to head home and get ready for a nap. While he took a nap I ran a few errands then by the time I got home it was almost dinner time.
My parents came up from Little Rock and my MIL stopped by the house too so we could all be with Campbell on his actual birthday. We went outside and got some pictures of the little peanut and by the time we were finished it was time for him to take a bath and go to bed.
I would say Campbell had a pretty great first birthday. It didn't consist of too much but he was surrounded by the people he loves and that makes him the most happy!

Campbell | Twelve Months

Weight: 18 pounds even

Height: 28 inches

Sleep: 7:30-7:00 and two naps a day. One in the morning right at 9:00 and one in the afternoon between 2:00-3:00. Naps last around 1.5 hours long.
Eat: Anything and everything! I don't have a picky eater and it's wonderful. I hope he always stays this way but I'm not holding my breath. I throw a bunch of different foods on Campbell's tray all at once and he goes to town. He always picks up his favorite foods first. Some of the foods he loves the most are pancakes, blueberries, toast, cheese, puffs and bananas. He also loves to drink water.

Clothes: 6-12 months in everything.
Diapers: Size 3 Pampers Swaddlers and Pampers Baby Dry at night

Likes: Food, swinging, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, opening drawers, getting into cabinets and pulling everything out of them, being outside, door stoppers, baths, playing 'this little piggie', exploring, Ivy and Madison, sitting in Mommy's lap and watching TV, pulling the books off his bookshelf, getting tickled, and sucking his fingers.

Dislikes: Diaper changes, being still, the nose frida (hates it), when clothes go over his head.
Milestones: Campbell started saying Momma this month! He loves saying it and says it all the time. He's also pulling up on everything. He can even crawl over to a wall and pull up on it which I find somewhat impressive. He loves to pull up then let go to see how long he can stand on his own before falling on his bottom. He'll do it over and over and over. Campbell pulls up on everything and once he does, he loves to just stand there and hang out.

Month Twelve: This has been a great month! Campbell is growing and changing so much and it's so exciting to watch it happen. Life with Campbell is easy and fun and he is super predictable these days. This has been my favorite month to date.
All About Campbell: Campbell is busy busy busy. He's always loved to be held but now he just wants down so he can explore. The only time Campbell will sit still is if Mickey Mouse is on the TV and if that's the case, he doesn't move a muscle. I'm not sure if he even blinks actually. He just sucks on his little fingers and is glued to his favorite show. Campbell has really turned into a talker and is constantly saying "mama" over and over. He'll just look at you and carry on a really serious conversation that consists of "mama mama mama mama" If you grin at him he'll give you the biggest grin back. He thinks it's really funny when you crawl on the floor with him and he loves to play chase around our ottoman upstairs. Once Campbell gets his bath, he's done for the day. You better hurry up and put on his pj's and sleep sack because he's ready for bed. Campbell loves being in his crib. He doesn't like for you to go get him out of his crib right when he wakes up. He needs a few minutes to himself (which I totally understand). He slaps his knees when he gets really excited and he loves pulling the makeup out of my makeup bag. He prefers standing over sitting and still thinks it's really funny when you pretend like you're going to eat him. He's loved that since day one!
Happy Birthday Campbell Scott Johnson! You will never know how much I love you. This has been the greatest year and life will forever be amazing simply because of you.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CAMPBELL!

Happy 1st Birthday to this precious baby boy of mine. This year has been an amazing journey. I'm somewhat at a loss as to what I should write. It's so surreal to be here, one year later. All day long yesterday I was reliving my life exactly one year ago. I woke up at 4:30 in the morning thinking I may be in labor. Around 9:00 we went to the hospital only to be released two hours later. Scott and I hopped in the car and grabbed Chik Fil A for lunch on the way home. As I was eating lunch, I was texting with my doctor who is also my friend. I told her I was glad to be sent away because life got very real for a minute there! Our morning activity wore me out so after lunch, I curled up in bed and took a really long nap. Six hours later we were back in the car and knew without a doubt we were about to meet our little boy. The entire labor and delivery process was perfectly amazing. I loved every minute of it and meeting Campbell for the first time was the most precious moment of my life.
The Lord has blessed me beyond measure by giving Campbell to me. I don't know what I ever did to deserve him but I'm humbled and honored. Campbell's first year of life was full of so many memories. Some good.....some not so good!! I will never forget this life changing year and I can't wait to see what the future holds. I'm excited to watch my little boy grow and change and learn, and I look forward to sharing each step along the way with all of you here.
