Christmas Eve

I had the most enjoyable Christmas Eve this year that I've had in a long time. For once I wasn't running around like a crazy person and was actually able to enjoy it. Scott's mom came over for breakfast and the boys got to open their presents from her. All Paw Patrol toys and they were in heaven. They literally played with their new toys non-stop all. day. long. Bennett took a short nap (very unlike him but I think in his subconscious he was anxious to wake up and get back to his new toys!!) and then the four of us watched The Star together. We've seen in several times before and I love it. Plus it's the perfect movie for Christmas.
Once we finished the movie I started getting everything prepped for Scott's dad to come over. The boys opened their presents from him while Scott cooked us dinner. He had been wanting to try this reverse searing on a steak and bought all new cookware to do it. Gotta admit--best steak he's ever made. If someone had told me it was a steak from Ruth's Chris I would have believed them! I can't normally eat a big steak all on my own but I devoured every single bite. So basically dinner was delicious and I loved that I didn't have to cook it!
Before we knew it, it was time for the boys to take their bath and get ready for bed!! I put them in their cute Christmas pj's, snapped a few pics of them, then they put out cookies and milk for Santa and carrots for the reindeer. Campbell insisted on placing the items on the floor right in front of the fireplace, just like last year.
Once they were tucked in bed, Santa and Mrs Claus got to work! Unfortunately Scott had to build an electric riding toy twice!! Campbell wanted this "digger" AKA excavator sooo bad. He saw it a few weeks ago at Academy and I kept hoping he'd forget about it but he continued to bring it up. Then Santa was at church on Sunday and when he asked Campbell what he wanted Campbell said he "only wanted one present....a digger." Cue Scott and I looking at each other like "what in the world do we do?!" Scott was so worried Campbell would be disappointed on Christmas if he didn't get his digger so after church he went to Academy to get it for him. He built it that evening and after he got it all built, the digger/claw thing wouldn't move up and down like it was supposed to. So he called Academy the next day and they let us trade it for a new one. So Scott had to build it again! Thankfully we had already gotten batteries in toys and everything out of their boxes, etc a few weeks before so building the digger was all we had to do + fill the stockings. A later evening than we had planned for but it worked out okay! Scott and I went to bed excited for what was awaiting our boys the next day!
