How We Try To Stay Healthy During Sick Season

Fall is upon us and while I'm super pumped for it, I'm totally dreading that along with the cooler temps and pretty fall foliage, sickness also comes around. Two and a half years ago Bennett and I could not stay well. We both stayed sick for more than 2 months straight. He and I both woke up every. single. Friday. with the stomach flu. Literally every single Friday like clockwork. It was horrible. It would last all weekend and we were both finally beginning to feel better by Wednesday or Thursday and then BAM. It started all over again. I swear I have PTSD from it. And I still have no idea why we both continued to get sick over and over again. However, I was determined to never in my life do that again. I decided everyone in my family needed to build stronger immune systems so I got to work.
Two and a half years ago, someone reached out to me about Plexus. They had noticed Bennett and I kept getting sick and suggested Plexus may help. I was desperate and willing to try anything so I started taking their Probiotic. Not even exaggerating, I have not been sick since I started taking their probiotic. I take it religiously, every night before bed. I never miss. I am absolutely a believer. I know taking a probiotic is essential in gut health and immunity. I think they key is finding a "good" one as some are way better than others. Find your Plexus girl and give it a try this winter.
Around this time last year, I decided my boys needed a good boost to their immune system. I was pregnant with Wells and knew he would be born in late January/early February, AKA--the peak time for flu and sickness. I wanted to do what I could to make sure Campbell and Bennett stayed healthy so they wouldn't bring any bad germs around our fragile newborn. I had heard about Elderberry and how it's packed with antioxidants and vitamins that boost your immune system and prevent and ease cold and flu symptoms. I decided it certainly wouldn't hurt to give it a try and see if it worked. I religiously began giving them elderberry gummies every single day and guess what? They haven't been sick since. Coincidence? I truly don't think so. Scott and I have both been so impressed by it we've decided to take them every day as well. The gummies I do are Sambucol. It says on the bottle for ages 4+ but I obviously do not follow that advice as I began giving them to Bennett when he was not quite 2.5. I'm kind of liberal about medicine but if you're concerned, ask your doctor. Also, beware. Because they taste great. Bennett ate an entire bottle at once when we weren't looking. Aye, yai yai. For the record, he was totally fine.
Finally, I keep Wet Ones in my car. I buy the small tube of them and they fit perfectly in that little pocket of my car door. Every time I get in the car from being out, I grab a Wet One for myself and give one to my kids. After I wipe my hands off, I wipe off my phone and steering wheel too. I don't know if it makes a difference or not but I like to think it does!

I hope this sick season is non existent like it was last season. We will do our best to stay healthy by continuing to take our vitamins, use our wet ones and wash our hands a lot. Crossing my fingers for a healthy winter for everyone!!
