Jump!

We had a fun day around here. Today, Mommy (yes Mommy) built baby Campbell's fun exersauser/jumper! I don't know why but I really love building things. I get a lot of satisfaction out of seeing my work finished. As long as it isn't too terribly complicated, I super enjoy it. I figured it was about time for Campbell to play in it. So while he was napping, I got the box out of the closet and put that bad boy together. I was so excited to see what he might do. At first he wasn't real sure what to do with it.
So I decided I'd just pull out Mickey on the iPad and he was in heaven. Campbell was able to sit up real straight like a big boy and watch Mickey up really close. He cooed and babbled and talked (loudly) all day long today....in between snuggling his Wubbanub.....and it was kinda super adorable!
His feet touch the ground (barely) and I was hoping he would do some bouncing but he didn't. So I put a pillow under him to see if maybe that would help him get the hang of it but instead he was like "ahhh thanks Mom, I really needed to prop my feet up and just chill."
Haha! Oh my goodness, I love this little peanut.
Day 1 of the jumper was definitely a success! Thanks Jennifer for getting it for us!!!

Solids

Yesterday I was a ball of energy and it was awesome! For some reason, I woke up on my own at 6:30 ready to get my day started. So I did. I love days like that. Campbell is still sleeping great (averages 9 hours these days!!!) but even so, I'm always still so tired! I don't get it. Scott took on major Daddy duty over the weekend so I could catch up on some sleep (I think I slept all day long on Sunday) so maybe that's why I woke up feeling so great. Whatever the reason behind it was, I was thrilled and able to do tons of stuff around my house that I've been putting off for weeks. Feels so great!
Cuuuutie alert! I could eat him up. Actually, I pretend to eat him all the time and he thinks its hilarious. I don't know how it's possible to fall more in love with this little guy but every day he melts me more than he did the day before! We had a big weekend around here. Campbell started solids! I jumped the gun a little bit on that. According to the "rules" you aren't supposed to start solids until 4-6 months. But I've just had this feeling it was time and I'm starting to learn to trust my instincts. I've ignored them a few times and regretted it. At the end of the day, you need to do what you feel is best for your baby, no matter what all of the rules say. We started with bananas and oh my goodness my child is obsessed. He can't get enough! (You can check out a video of it on my Instagram @kara2lou) I'm making my own baby food and it's way easier than I thought it would be. Of course I've only done bananas so we'll see how it goes with other fruits and veggies. I'm loving making his food and feeding him with a spoon. So fun!
Everything else in Campbell's world is going great! I did something I promised myself I wouldn't do---pulled the Rock-N-Play back out. We were doing pretty good with our naps for a while there but we reverted back to our old ways. I just can't spend my days holding him while he naps and letting him cry it out wasn't working either. So I got the Rock-N-Play out and the little peanut snoozes so hard I typically have to wake him up from his naps. It's glorious! He still sleeps in his crib at night and I'm praying I'm not going to mess up his nighttime sleep by letting him nap in the Rock-N-Play. Babies and their sleep---it's like walking on egg shells!!!!!
Of course I can't forget to mention my other babies!! They're doing great too. Snoozing pretty good, fighting over bones, asking to run in the backyard, playing with toys, begging for people food....same ol' same ol'. Love my girls!

Stars and Stripes

We had an awesome July 4th weekend! Our neighborhood always has a big pool party and I look forward to it all year long. I really didn't want to miss out on it this year so about a month ago, I asked my Grammy if she would come up and watch Campbell for me. She said she would be thrilled to do it so she came up on Thursday and kept the little peanut for me all weekend.
I kicked off the July 4th festivities on Thursday night by helping the ladies in my neighborhood decorate our pool area with fun red, white and blue decor. I love decorating the pool for 'Firecracker Fourth' and almost enjoy it more than the actual 4th. The next day I was up and out at the pool before 11:00! We ate hotdogs and lounged by the pool all day long and it was awesome!
Of course I had to keep popping in my house every few hours to check on Campbell and brought him out to the pool to hang with everyone for a little bit!
I'm not sure if it gets more American than a little boy in red, white and blue Ralph Lauren!
Maybe before the summer is up I'll let Campbell go for a real swim. I'm not sure what he'll think about it since the pool water is quite a bit colder than his bath water. But he didn't seem to mind getting his little leggies in it so he may love it! Stay tuned for that!
I ended the night cuddling my little peanut and watching the awesome firework show my neighborhood put on......from my window with my Grammy. Being in the sun all day wears me out!
It was such a fun weekend and I'm so grateful to my Grammy for coming up and helping me out with Campbell. She's the best.

Big Boy

My little peanut is turning into such a big boy lately. Every few days he's capable of doing something new! Recently he's started sitting in his Bumbo chair. I put a pillow behind him just in case he may need it but he does great sitting in it! I can't wait until he can sit up all by himself. I feel like it will be life changing. For now, the Bumbo chair will do!!
Campbell also LOVES sitting in my lap like a big boy. He is perfectly content with me holding him while he takes in the world around him. Almost every morning, we lounge in our pj's together and watch an episode of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. He loves it and I do too!
Recently I gave Campbell a spoon just to see what he would do with it. To my surprise he was not only capable of holding the spoon but he also kept putting it in his mouth!
I was so proud I had to take a video and send it to Daddy! Ha!! We get excited over Bumbo seats and holding spoons around here these days. Our little baby is growing up before our eyes and it's so much fun!
