A Little Of Nothing

Hey-O! How was your weekend? Mine was good! Scott went on his annual weekend golf trip with some of his friends so my parents came up here to keep me company. We filled our weekend with a lot of fun activities and I'm so glad my parents were willing to come up. It's not really too hard to convince them to come up here and hang out with Campbell :)
As of tomorrow, our neighborhood pool will only be open for 20 more days. Such a sad thought. I'm soaking it all up while I can. If you need me this week, I'll be at the pool.

Baby Brooks

My sweet friends welcomed a new little addition into their family. Baby Brooks was born yesterday afternoon and he is a precious, perfect little boy!
We were able to go to the hospital last night to meet him and he is just the sweetest! Momma and baby are doing wonderfully and I'm so thankful for that blessing.
Campbell is exactly 17 months older than Brooks. Both were born on the 26th and I think that's so neat! I have a feeling these two will be big buddies one day and I can't wait to watch them grow up together. So many fun memories are in our future. This really is such an amazing time in life! So blessed with great friends and sweet babies!!

Romping At Sassafras

I'm trying to mix it up on the blog here and talk about more than just my simple little life and what I do every day. One way for me to do that is with outfit posts every now and then. I'm no fashion blogger that's for sure but I do love fashion so I figured I'd talk about it a little bit here and there. Last Friday Scott and I had a birthday party to attend so I decided to throw on this fun romper from Loft for the event. It's breezy and comfortable and great for a casual summertime party!
The party was held at Sassafras Springs Vineyard here in NWA and this place is amazing!!! I can't believe I'd never even heard of it until now. Of course I don't get out much so I guess it's not too surprising. It's a lovely little winery where you can do tastings inside their tasting room or out on their awesome covered patio with pretty little twinkle lights! A guy was playing lovely music on a keyboard and you can get cheese platters to enjoy with your wine. The views are beautiful and the weather was perfect on this particular Friday evening. I felt like I was away on vacation--seriously, this place is so cool. The Vineyard is on a lot of land so you can walk around, with your wine if you like, and do a little exploring. They have a beautiful open air chapel and apparently a lot of people have weddings there. It was just the neatest thing!
If you live in Northwest Arkansas or are ever up here visiting you must go to Sassafras. It was such a cool experience and we had a great time celebrating my friends birthday there!

Reunited

I've got my baby back after a long weekend of him being away with his grandparents. Campbell had a great time and we both did okay being away from one another for so long. I think Campbell had way too much fun at his Pops and Gamma's house to even notice I wasn't there. His cousin Avery came over a lot and played and Campbell always loves that. I love this picture of my Dad with the babies.
As for myself, I did pretty good too. Every morning when I woke up I told myself I was going to just go on down to Little Rock to pick up Campbell. I definitely missed him!! It was nice having one on one time with Scott and my girls though. On Thursday I went to the pool and had it all to myself. It felt weird (and nice) not having any time restraints. On Friday Jaclyn and I hung out most of the day. We went to lunch in Fayetteville then did a little shopping after. Later that evening Scott and I went to a 30th birthday party for my friend, Ashley. I'll blog more about that tomorrow. The venue was amazing!!!
Saturday Scott and I had lunch out then just kind of wandered around town. We really didn't do much at all. We both missed Campbell a lot and spent the majority of our evenings watching videos of him on our phones. Ha!!
We met my parents halfway between NWA and Little Rock to pick up our baby and it felt so good to have him in my arms again. We read a couple of extra books and rocked for an extra long time before bed last night. The free weekend was definitely nice and enjoyable but nothing beats kisses from my baby boy!!

Time For Me

I have always loved seeing all of the photos that parents post of their kids headed off to their first day of school. A lot of kiddos started back to school or MDO this week and I have enjoyed all of the cute back to school pics so much! Campbell is going to MDO again this year but ours doesn't start for another 4 weeks. This year Campbell has to sleep on a nap mat. I don't know how in the world that's going to work out but everyone swears it somehow does. I'm not very optimistic about it but we'll see how it goes!! We have to provide nap mats so I ordered Campbell's last week and it came in the mail a few days ago. I love it!!! I think it's adorable.
I laid it out on the floor for Campbell and he immediately got on it. He definitely likes it but getting him to actually nap on it is still questionable. I'm going to keep it in the playroom a lot these next few weeks so he'll get used to it. I need to get him on a better nap schedule too. He usually doesn't take a nap until 2:00 but at MDO I think they put them down around 12:30 so I need to try to move him up. He'll easily adjust. He usually just hangs in there with me because I'm out running errands until 2:00. He's always a tired errand running sidekick but he's a trooper!
My Mom and Grammy popped up to see me for a few short days this week. I absolutely love having them here and they're coming back really soon to hang out again. It makes me so happy to see how much Campbell loves all of his grandparents but watching my Grammy with him especially warms my heart. He wanted to sit in her lap yesterday morning to watch Mickey Mouse and I loved watching him cuddle with her. My Grammy has always been one of my closest friends and I just love watching her with my baby.
My Mom took off yesterday and shortly before she left she suggested taking Campbell with her for the weekend. At first I thought no because I've never been away from Campbell for more than 24 hours and the thought of being away from him for that long made me sad. I thought about it for a little bit then decided it would actually be nice to have some "me" time. I looked at the weather forecast to see if it would be sunny out and when it said yes, that kind of sealed the deal. Because as we all know, I love to lay by the pool and get a tan. So I packed him a little bag and sent him to Pops and Gamma Camp.
Campbell will have the best time so I'm not even worried about him at all. I'm not so sure how I'll do though! As of yesterday I was fine but we'll see how it goes. I am going to try to enjoy my Kara time although I'm not sure if I'll know what to even do with myself! Sleeping in, the pool, and no time crunches seem like a nice way to keep me entertained. Stay tuned!

Moving To The Other Side

I hope every ones Monday is off to a great start and you all had a great weekend. I had a really fun weekend! We decided to have some friends over to our house on Friday night. The weather was amazing and I thought what better way to spend it then sitting on my back porch with friends? We grilled and hung out and had fun.
On Saturday Scott and I spent the entire day running errands all over NWA. We even made it down to Fayetteville to do some shopping. Campbell was such a trooper and we decided to treat him with a cupcake and he gobbled the entire thing down. But not before rubbing the frosting all into his hair. Talk about one sticky disaster.
Later that evening we went to a wedding shower with some of our friends and enjoyed a late dinner at Bordinos once it was over. I love Bordinos--it's one of my absolute favorites. I rarely get to eat there these days but when I do, it never disappoints.
Yesterday, at church, it was promotion Sunday. Our children's building has the infants on one side and the toddlers on the other. We went to check Campbell in to the infant side like we always have and they directed us over to the toddler side. Ummm....what? Scott and I were both caught so off guard. Isn't our baby still an infant? We walked him to the other side and I got so emotional. We dropped him off at his new classroom and thank goodness we were early (for once) because we stared at Campbell through the window for at least 5 minutes. Scott was like "he's the littlest one in there!!" and I was like "I was not prepared for this." It's so not even a big deal but like, it kind of was!!! We are totally those parents.

Landon Time

My nephew, Landon, has spent a lot of time hanging out at my house this summer and I've loved it! Landon is 10 and I've loved this kid from the start. He's the first baby boy I ever fell in love with and being an aunt to him has always been such a special role to me.
My brother and SIL were here last week and left last Friday but Landon wanted to stay with me and hang for a few extra days over the weekend. I've had a 10 year record of never saying no to him (why would I?!) so of course I let him stay. Uncle Scott and Aunt Kara do their best to be the coolest aunt and uncle ever so we did it up all weekend long. On Friday night we went to a carnival then on Saturday we visited our local arcade/bowling alley/go cart joint. Landon made away with all of this crap these amazing goodies for only $60 which was "such an amazing deal considering all of the stuff" he won.
I met my parents halfway between NWA and Little Rock on Sunday so Landon could get back home. He was bummed to leave and I was too! Scott, Landon and I played the Wii on Saturday night and the three of us had too much fun. Video games can get addicting especially when you're trying to beat your highest score and I'm not even a competitive person so that says a lot. Landon got cracked up at watching me play tennis on the wii. Sometimes you just have to look stupid to get the job done.
Landon goes back to Florida tomorrow and I'm going to miss seeing him a lot. He's a special little boy and there's nothing more fun than being an aunt! He's such a blessing. I'm grateful for our time together this summer and I hope he'll always remember it as being so much fun!!

Campbell's Playroom

I've been wanting to share Campbell's playroom with you guys for a while now and finally took the time to take photos of it. This is where Campbell and I spend the majority of our life. Once Campbell wakes up and eats his breakfast, we go straight to this space. I prop my feet up on the ottoman, sip my coffee, watch GMA and Campbell gets busy playing with all of his toys.
The most recent additions to our playroom have been the play table and teepee. I got the play table from Ikea and the teepee from The Land of Nod. I wasn't sure if the teepee would get used but Campbell loves it. He'll take his toys in there to play with them and he loves a game of "where's Campbell" in his teepee. The table doesn't get used a whole lot just yet. Sometimes Campbell eats his snacks there or will play with his toys on it. I mostly wanted a table so Campbell would have a place to create art one day. He isn't into coloring just yet but I'm sure that's right around the corner and I wanted a space for him to be able to create his glorious masterpieces!!
While the space is covered with toys, I did want to try to make it feel like somewhat of a bonus room/playroom and cater to all ages.....if you can even do that with Little Tykes stuff everywhere. We have the wii set up which my 10 year old nephew loves.....who am I kidding, Scott and I love it too. The ottoman is filled with sheets and blankets because sometimes, when we have a lot of guests, the sectional serves as a bed.
There really isn't much to the space (it's not Pinteresty or anything!!) but it is so nice to have. I am very thankful to have a playroom for Campbell. It feels safe plus all of his toys are here and out of the way. I love this space. It's where I hang. This is where Campbell does cute things that make me smile. It's where he learns. It's where I grab the dream blanket to snuggle with my girls and my little peanut. We watch everything from GMA, Kelly & Michael and Ellen to Mickey Mouse, Sofia and Doc McStuffins. As a family, we almost always are here watching Wheel of Fortune every night. We read, play fetch with Madison, stack and nest blocks, eat snacks, and play legos. This room is full of fun and full of love!!.....and toys :)

Let's Catch Up

Hey all! Thought I'd give a little update about what's been going on around here these days.
This little boy woke me up at 5:30 this morning with a really loud and very sad cry. Since he never does that, I popped out of bed to check on him and his little foot was stuck between the railings of his crib and he couldn't get it out. I had a hard time getting it out myself!! I have no idea how he did that since he sleeps in a sleep sack and his bumpers are in his crib but somehow he managed. He was so traumatized after that, that he couldn't really go back to sleep. Needless to say, we were both a little tired today.
Campbell is a growing boy and a big mess. We had to get all new shoes for him because his foot grew a whole size over night. I also had to order some new sleep sacks for him because his were getting a little small. I will be so sad when the sleep sack stage is over and Campbell will too! He can't go to sleep without his sleep sack.  Also, a few weeks ago Campbell threw his monitor in the toilet and yes, it ruined it so we had to get a brand new one. So that's neat.
A few days after he threw the monitor in the toilet he got into my makeup and this happened. I gave him an eye shadow compact to play with while I put mascara on my top lashes and when I turned around this is what I saw. On my cream rug. I should have known better but I honestly didn't think he would be able to open it since I struggle to get it open myself sometimes. Agh! This kid is a mess. You seriously can't turn your back for 10 seconds.
Other than stacking blocks, that's about all that's going on over here. I took the girls to their annual wellness exam and they checked out perfectly! I'm so thankful for my healthy girls. I don't know what I'd do without them!!

Cousin Time!!

Last week Campbell's cousins came up to hang out with him and he had such a great time having them here! My brother had some work stuff to do in NWA so the rest of the gang decided to tag along and hang out. It was so fun! My SIL and I decided to go to the new Amazeum one day so the kiddos could play and have fun. Campbell and I have been once before and had been looking forward to going back.
They all had such a fun time! The Amazeum lives up to it's name for anyone that lives in/around the area and hasn't visited yet. There's so much to do and so much to see.
Here's Landon pretending to be a Walmart cashier!! He LOVED the Amazeum. I felt bad because between the two littles nap times, we only had about an hour and a half to enjoy it. He could have been there for at least double the time having an absolute blast. When we were leaving, he was already asking when he would be able to come back.
Little Miss Avery celebrated a major milestone while we were at the Amazeum---she started crawling!! We knew it was coming soon and she must have gotten enough excitement and energy in her bones to get moving. Her Momma caught it on video and I was so thrilled to be able to watch it happen! So exciting! Nothing cuter than a crawling baby!!
We did some other fun stuff while the cousins were in town including a trip to Dilly Dally's--our local toy store and possibly the most fun toy store ever! But mostly we just hung out in the playroom. Kyle and Jenn offered to let Scott and I have a date night one night so that was a special treat. We tried out a new restaurant in downtown Bentonville and it was delicious! I love our little town. There's so many cool things to do here.
Campbell, Scott, and I loved having everyone come to visit us! I told Jenn that we need to do it more often. Campbell already thinks Landon is super cool (I can't go on enough about how sweet Landon is to him) and he's really loving his younger cousin too. I'm pretty certain that Campbell and Avery will be super best buddies one day and Campbell will always think that Landon is the coolest kid ever.
