Eve. Like The One From Adam.

Scott always asks me the same thing when he gets home from work. What did you do today? Well, I slept in so late even though I went to bed really early. I had my weekly lunch date with Jaclyn at McAlisters, I went to Barnes and Noble and read magazines for a bit, went to the beauty supply to get some goodies then came home and talked to my Mom on the phone for a while about how I'm a few pounds heavier this summer than I was last summer. And how depressing that is since I work out harder than anybody I've ever known in my life and haven't changed my eating habits. I blame Eve. She just HAD to eat that fruit didn't she. If she hadn't I bet all of us would be in amazing shape and get to eat whatever we want. It's all her fault....
After talking to my Mom I literally couldn't hold my eyes open. I fell asleep on my sofa for an hour and a half and I had to MAKE myself get up. Do you ever have those days? It always worries me that something may be wrong with me.I decided I would sport my favorite shorts today. I've had these L.A.M.B shorts for forever. Scott said my outfit doesn't match. I disagree. It's the whole mixing patterns trend, duh! Scott always has an opinion on my outfit. Is your guy like that too? My friends husbands are just like Scott and we all think it's so funny! My Dad just notices if he thinks something is cute and he'll compliment my Mom or I. Scott is like 'ummm...that necklace doesn't go' or 'these shoes would look better I think.' HAHA. He's going to get so mad at me for calling him out.
I love that about him and I think it's really common for the guys in our generation to be like that. Or maybe it's just all of the guys I'm around. They have just as much of an interest in fashion as us girls! It's great! I wouldn't like it if Scott knew nothing about clothes or fashion or labels. One day I was running crazy late to something and I told Scott to grab something for me out of the closet and I would wear whatever he picked out. He grabbed jeans, a while button down, heels and a scarf. Ha! Perfect honey!
This is what dinner was tonight. I'm a bad wife. I wasn't in the mood to cook (or eat a grilled chicken breast or fish with vegetables like we do every night) so I picked up this take home meal from the Bentonville Butcher Deli. And this was it! I couldn't even mask the energy to open up a can of corn or something!! We simply had Mexican casserole which was delicious by the way.Since I splurged with the naughty dinner I figured we should definitely get some healthy food in our bodies and have strawberries for dessert.....with chocolate. Yum!

Namaste

I tried a true yoga class for the first time this morning. Hmmm.....I'm not sure what I think about it. I approached the instructor after it was over and asked her how exactly I was supposed to get fit from simply stretching and balancing? After the whole mind and spirit bit she threw out to me, she assured me my muscles would get long and lean. Okay. Over how long of a period of time is what I'm wondering? Not only was it completely easy, I had goosebumps all over my body because I was freezing. Not hot--like you should be during a workout. I'm going to try to stick it out for a few months to see if I notice any kind of difference. If it simply gives me more energy and makes me more limber then that'll be fine. Plus it's supposed to help your internal organs too--that's what Dr. Oz says. Here's my little man listening to his little ipod shuffle--blue of course. Kyle said to him 'Landon what are you listening on there bud?' 'Oh I've got a little Bieber, some Michael Jackson, a few songs from The Peas....' He's a mess! What is up with my sad little tree? Everybody else in the neighborhood has nice, full, green trees. Mine looks pitiful. Scott says I killed it because I strung Christmas lights on it. Ummm okay.
Scott says funny stuff to me like that quite a bit. He got irritated with me for the longest time because I like to turn our porch light on at night. (It just makes the house look more inviting) He swore to me that I was running up our electric bill. I finally made him google how much I'm running it up by every month--TWO DOLLARS. Crazy boy....

Home Happy's

You know how you have some things in your home that just really make you happy? I thought I'd share with you a few of my favorite things in my house that always bring a little smile to my face when I see them! This old photograph of Holly. She was probably around 5/6/7 and I think it's so beautiful! We used to keep her hair long--all the way to the floor--and her hair was gorgeous!!! I love that it's just blowing in the wind. I loved her thick, long, silky black hair but I think she looks super cute and spunky with the shorter little do she has now! This lime green jar that I hold all of my colorful cooking spatulas in! I'm a sucker for all things colorful. I got all of those utensils at Williams Sonoma and I'm pretty sure I have all of the colors now. I won't be sad if they come out with a new color and I'll definitely have to pick it up even though I probably don't need it. Ha!!
Every time Scott and I go on a vacation we get a magnet. It's the only thing we collect and we're very into it! We search our entire vacation until we find one that we're satisfied with. So far we have: DC, Siesta Key, Hollywood, South Beach, St. Lucia, Crested Butte, Riveria Maya, Dominican Republic, Cancun, and Paris!

My old teddy bear, Patches. I don't sleep with him or keep him on display. However, I could never get rid of him (obviously) and I would never put him in the attic or storage. So he has a special spot on the shelf in my closet and every once in a while I give him a little squeeze so he still feels loved and important. You know you do the same thing after watching Toy Story 3 too....
For those of you who have been reading my blog for a while, you may remember that for mine and Scott's 1 year anniversary we didn't get to take the trip to Riveria Maya during our actual anniversary like we had wanted to because Scott's boss said they would be too busy at work. (he always apologizes to me for that every time he sees me. haha) I was devastated because I was SO looking forward to celebrating that special day in a really big way.
I figured we would just spend that day at home and that would be that. But Scott came home from work and surprised me by saying he had booked a special room at the Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs and we were going to stay there all weekend. I bought this painting of the Crescent while we were there so I would always remember where we spent our 1 year anniversary. It's not where I was expecting to spend it and I wouldn't change it for the world! We ate great food, strolled along the streets, and spent many hours holed up in our room watching movies. It's was simple, relaxing, and romantic! Perfection.

Lazy Saturday On DeGray

Yesterday was so nice and lovely. Is there any better way to spend a Saturday than chillaxin on a boat? I don't think so either....

We had a later start than we normally do. Mom had to do lots of rose bush trimming and Dad was dealing with Kyle/Airport stuff. We didn't make it out there until about 2:00. I prefer to be on the lake no later than 10:30! I want to take advantage of the funness as much as possible....

I love DeGray. It's a really beautiful lake. It's not a crazy party lake and I like that. It's very family friendly and calm which is exactly what it should be I think! If you've never been to Lake DeGray then you should definitely visit it sometime soon....

I was sad that Mr Landon wasn't with us because he makes the lake way more fun--for everybody! Since Kyle is off to Africa, Landon went back to Tampa for a few weeks. I cant wait to get the little guy back so we can be entertained by him on the boat! Plus it's just so cute to hear him say "can we go to the snack shop?" By that he means the Marina....

I somehow managed to not get in the water one time. Mom and Dad floated around but I decided to just hang by myself in the boat while listening to the Boat Music playlist I made on the way there. Which is a really good one if I do say so myself....

I hope this week goes by super fast. I'm excited to get back on the boat for a fun 3 day weekend. Plus, I just really love getting kissed by the sun! :)

See you guys back here tomorrow!!

All The Words

Hey kids! Getting a late start here this Friday. I've had a very busy day. Lunch with Jaclyn at (you guessed it!) McAlisters, hard workout, then re-showering/packing and headed down to Little Rock. Scott got off work at 3 (even though he has summer hours beginning at 11-ish...whatev) and we took off for central Arkansas. I'm hanging with my parents this weekend while Scott is in Hot Springs for a bachelor party. One of his best friends, Matt, is getting married in two weeks so I guess it's the last hooray!(Hoorah?....Excuse me, I don't know how to spell all the words)

While the boys will be getting all wild and crazy I'll be with the parentals chillaxin on the boat tomorrow. I realize how tight I am. Ha! Seriously though I love my parents--they're my besties--so I will really enjoy lake time with just them tomorrow. I love going to the lake with my parents because they like being active. We don't just sit and float in the water--we bust out the activities. The goal this year is for me to learn to slalom so.......guess we'll attempt that tomorrow! FUN TIMES! I'm really looking forward to it!
Scott and Holly love each other so much. She prefered his lap the entire ride down. Aren't they just so cute together? Oh by the way we got a new car today! Nothing really to get excited about. Scott traded his company car--the Ford Fusion for a Ford Escape (I think that's the name). It's so nice to have a company car. Free gas, free insurance, free car washes, free miles....major bonus for working with one of these vendors! Love it!!!

My Brother Kyle--29--Little Rock

Let me start by saying I had some reservations about doing this because I'm not into 'match-making.' However, lots of ladies have told me I've just got to link up to Kelly's Korner and write about Kyle because he's 'such a great guy' so I decided ehhh, why not? So here we go folks!
Meet my brother Kyle! A very godly man who loves the Lord and lives his life for Him daily. Kyle loves to travel. As you can see in the photo above. He travels all over the US and every summer he takes a big mission trip. Last year it was China and on Monday he's leaving for Kenya for 2 weeks. Kyle married my husband Scott and I. It was such a special moment for my family and countless people who attended my wedding said they had never heard anyone who spoke so well and from the heart like Kyle did. Kyle is a licensed minister but he works for my Dad's company in Little Rock, Image One. (http://www.image1one.com/) Kyle is very ambitious and loves what he does and actually looks forward to Mondays. (don't worry that confuses me too) This is one of my favorite photos from my wedding day! Aren't they both so cute handsome!! (Kyle's not short. My husband is just abnormally tall)

Before I say too much more you should know that Kyle is a package deal!Meet the cutest kid that's ever lived, Landon! My adorable nephew and Kyle's pride and joy. Landon just turned six and he's Mr. Personality. He doesn't have a shy bone in his body, his pallet is the most sophisticated pallet for a child (adult even) I've ever seen, and he's a crazy good athlete. We have high hopes for this kid to go pro one day!! Ha! (Seriously though I'm kinda not kidding)
Landon lives in Tampa but Kyle flies to see him all the time and Landon spends his entire summer in Arkansas. Kyle is an amazing father. A lot of men could make excuses to not see their child who lives so far away but not Kyle. If there's a soccer game, he's not going to miss it. Even if there are games 3 weekends in a row. First day of school---there. Birthdays---there. Holidays---there. Random weekend just because---all the time. That Zac Brown Band song--Highway 20 Ride--Ummm.....that song IS Kyle's life. Except for driving East every other Friday he flies. :)
Kyle is a major big sports fan. All sports. And don't even get me started on the Razorbacks. He travels to every football game and is a frequent guest on the post game radio show. He decorates his car on game day like a crazy person and blares the fight song with the windows down everywhere he goes. It's hilarious! He gets lots of Woo Pig!! from equally avid fans! (Who got excited about football season just then?)During the summer you're most likely to catch Kyle on the lake or hosting a big crawfish/shrimp broil at his house with all of his best guy friends. So that's Kyle in a nutshell. He's a really great guy and he dresses cute too (What? That's important....) If you think you or a friend would have a lot in common with Kyle then allow me to play match maker and set you up! You can facebook me {Kara Luttrell Johnson} or email me {karaluttrell at gmail} and if you want to Facebook Kyle he's on there too {Kyle Luttrell}!!

Wedge You Get That?

I picked up these adorable little wedges at Warrens yesterday and I'm obsessed!! Not just because they're super cute but they're super comfortable too. I LOVE to wear a heel. It instantly makes my outfit feel cuter but let's be honest--you can't wear a heel all day--even if you really want to. I've had wedges before that hurt like a heel but these are great. Steve Madden. Check it out if you want some comfy wedges that'll go with anything!!I also love this little dress. It's perfect to just throw on AND it's flowy. I love a flowy dress because that means it's comfortable! Nothing beats comfort. Those earrings came from the streets of NYC. I love saying that. "Where'd you get those earrings?" "Oh on the streets in NY." Like my new do? You probably can't even tell! Haha. I know some people look at it as long hair but it feels so short to me! I like it though. My little summer style. A nice change is always good don't ya think?

Who else is obsessed with the Casey Anthony trial? Who doesn't think she's 100% guilty? If this jury pulls an OJ it will not be okay with me.....and the rest of America too I'm sure. She is for sure the definition of crazy.
Mom and Dad are up here for work this week. We get to spend all day together because their work takes place in the evening. It's so nice to be able to hang out with my parents. I say it all the time but I'll say it again--I wish we lived in the same town together so badly!
I think Scott and I should have a date night tonight. Don't you love the random mid-week date night? Meeee toooo!!!!

1 Wedding And A Crunchy Feeling

Please excuse my blog break. Allow me to catch you up!

I decided my hair was a touch too long so I called my old salon to see if my favorite hair cutter, Jennifer, could squeeze me in. She could and I chopped off a solid 3 inches. It was much needed.

Scott and I drove to Little Rock Friday night. My parents were still in Napa so it was a little weird being at their house alone. We decided to help ourselves to a bottle of my Dad's yummy wine. We woke up on Saturday and took our sweet little nephew to the pool where Aunt Kara allowed Landon not 1 but 2 Drumsticks. He had never had one before and LOVED it. He never eats like that and I know 2 Drumsticks is a little excessive but you know I don't know how to say no to him. We stayed at the pool for a few hours before we had to head back and get ready for my friend, Mallory's, wedding.
Mallory looked beautiful!! The wedding was at the Peabody and we had so much fun. She had been facebooking me a lot during her wedding planning asking about the vendors I used. She chose the same band that I had--The Rocketts--so I had fun getting to dance to their music!

Mallory was one of my first college friends. She's my pledge sister and lived next door to Jaclyn and Jax in Pomfret so we got to know each other really well! I'm so happy for her and super jealous that she's spending this week in Costa Rica!

So get this. Scott and I valed the car at the Peabody and as we were headed home I noticed that my sunglasses were missing. I wore them on the way to the wedding and threw them in the passenger seat and I'll be darned if the guy didn't straight up take them! I was furious. Of course I called and asked to speak to the valet, manager, and security. I told them that I knew there was nothing they could do about it and nobody would fess up to taking them but they should know that they have dishonest people working for them. After many apologies from them I hung up and fummed the whole way saying to Scott over and over 'I mean, who just takes things from people? Really, who does that?'
So the next day we're driving back to Bentonville and all of a sudden my sunglasses magically appeared. I called the security lady I had been talking to and told her I found them and they don't have shady people working for them after all. Wanna know how crunchy it felt to do that? Real.

1.2.3.4.5

I've had this Velvet top for 6 years now and I haven't worn it in 5. I just can't bring myself to get rid of it. It's a little sentimental I guess. She was my first 'big' purchase item. I got her for New Years Eve when I was 20 and probably wore it twice (sheesh). She's a little dated now. Maybe Rachel Zoe could come over to my house and update this little piece so I can wear her still. Until then, she'll just have to hang there looking pretty with all of her diamonds and big chiffon bottom wrap. A few other things....
My left eye keeps pouring water out. It's crazy annoying. Keeping contacts out fixes the problem but I'm not a huge fan of wearing my glasses all the time. I feel like my outfits never look right when I have on my glasses AND it makes me feel a little awkward wearing them while I'm running. I only feel appropriate in my glasses when I've just taken a shower, have wet hair and my PJ's on and I'm snuggled on the sofa with Scott watching a movie. With that said, it looks like I need to make an appointment with my eye doctor soon. I need new packs of contacts anyway....
Let's talk about how cute my new house shoes are!!! These are a bridesmaid gift from Jax and I love them! I had just told Scott the week before I got them that I needed new house shoes. Who would've thought I'd receive such an adorable pair. Jax got them at a store on the square in Fayetteville and they had all different types, designs, and colors. Presh!
I love how colorful Scott's side of the closet is. His button downs consist of Thomas Dean//Taylor Byrd, Robert Graham, Vinyard Vine, and Robert Talbot. All of which are very colorful designers. I love that he's not just a blue and white only kinda guy....
Holly loves this Razorback blanket. She managed to snuggle herself into it and she looked very cozy. Such a little cutie pie....

Today....

Today hasn't been super eventful. Scott just got back from Chicago. He was only gone one night and I'm happy to report I slept as hard as Holly did. I only had one scary moment last night--when a huge storm came to town and my power went out. It quickly came back on (thank goodness) and I was able to get back to Harry Potter.
After lunch with Jaclyn at (where else) McAlisters I decided to go see a movie. Water For Elephants is what I decided upon and it was SO good. Tonight Scott and I watched True Grit which I also enjoyed.
My parents are in Salsalito right now and I'm super jealous. They're headed to Napa tomorrow. They didn't invite me to join them. What's that about? This is their second trip to Napa this year. I think it's safe to say they really love it. I wouldn't know as I've never been. I know, I know....I find that crazy too given how much I enjoy yummy wine. Ice tea is my favorite beverage though just in case you're wondering. I pop in McAlisters almost every day just to order a tea. I guess it's my new diet coke. I've given those up.
Hmmm....alrighty that's all I've got for ya. My life is uneventful right now.

First Lake Time Of The Summer

This past weekend Scott and I hit the lake for the first time this summer. Brad's parents have a house on Beaver and let Brad and Jaclyn have it for the weekend so a bunch of us could gather together and enjoy! We had a blast of course.....all nine of us! ........................................Brad and Jaclyn
........................................Lauren and Dusty
........................................Ashley
........................................Shane and Stacy

I brought Holly with me. I was a little worried, given her age, that she wouldn't do too well out of her comfort zone, around tons of people, and away from home for a whole weekend but she loved it! She loved the attention everybody gave her. I brought her out on the boat with us at the end of the day for the last hour or so and she very much enjoyed herself. She made her way into every body's laps at some point or another. I looked up at one point and Shane was just toting her around. Ha! Of course she begged for chips and ham sandwiches from everybody. Dusty and Lauren both commented that they've never met a more 'well mannered dog' before. Aww. Nice compliment Holly!

Tooth Fairy

It finally happened! Landon lost his first tooth! Landon and his Dad pulled it out around 8:30 last night. Landon said it hurt but the tooth fairy was going to come and leave him $20. I told him the tooth fairy used to leave me only $5 and he said it's gone up to $20 now. Ha! We're very excited because Landon was the last one in his class to loose a tooth. I can't believe my little boy is about to have a mouth full of grown up teeth. They grow up too fast!!!!!

Massages, Achy Joints, And A Prissy Dog

Today has been a pretty great day. It hasn't consisted of too many exciting things. Bug spray guy came this morning, grilled chicken and salad for lunch, long (and hard) workout. However, I ended it with a fabulous massage and a turkey burger wrapped in lettuce! I kinda want to set up a little program and get a massage every month. How fab would that be? I could seriously use it. Every single time I get a massage the therapist goes on and on about how tight my neck and shoulders are. Every. time. Every single time. One person even told me they had never treated anyone who's neck and shoulders were as bad as mine. One person touched them and went 'oh wow.' I complain about how tight I feel there all the time. Scott gives me a good neck message almost every night. I think it's the way I sleep. I don't know what else it would be. I've always been that way. I tried taking muscle relaxers for a while but it didn't help me. A monthly massage would probably do wonders for me. I'm highly considering it.
How cute is my little pumpkin doodle! I probably kiss her 452 times a day and tell her she's so cute and how much I love her about the same amount. We had a little scare with her a few weeks ago. I came home with a huge load of groceries and she slowly crept to the door to greet me. I looked down and she was holding one paw up limping. Naturally I throw the groceries down, swoop her up, and hop in the car. Once I got to the vet Holly totally made a liar out of me. She was freaking out like her normal doctor going self. Dr. Brown (her Bentonville doctor) thought it must have been the rain making her joints ache.

That made total sense to me because when it rains my ankles hurt--both of them. That would be the result of a ballet injury where I landed wrong after some sort of leap and it hurt so bad I passed out. The other was a year later when I was walking outside in the dark and fell in a hole and twisted it. I've never felt pain so badly in my whole life. That one hurt way worse than the ballet one and I actually went to the emergency room because I was positive I broke it. My doctor told me what I did to both ankles was actually worse than a break. Neat. Anywho they hurt every time it rains and the first few steps into my runs.
So I totally believed the doctors theory that the rain must'v been the problem. Of course I had them do full blood work on Holly while we were there. Just in case. Scott (who rushed from work as I called him in a panic) was like 'umm...are you for real with that.' Duh. I just like to make sure. I don't care that it costs $200. I love the piece of mind of knowing my 14 1/2 year old dog is 100% (which she is by the way). Yay for Holly. We did switch her to a full blown kidney diet because her levels were a little higher than they should be. Luckily Holly LOVES her new food. But not her new kidney treats. I'm finding them all over the house. We have to cheat in that department.I'll end with this. Scott and I are soaking up our new patio. We sit out there all night long. However my prissy little pup doesn't care for it. She wants us to sit on the sofa inside. She stares at the door to go inside the whole time. Then we let her in and she scratches on it from the inside and gives us that 'come in here and sit look.' She's a mess. What inside dog doesn't eat up the opportunity to play outside? Just Holly probably.

My Shows

I love TV. Something about admitting that makes me feel bad. I guess it's all those teachers when I was young trying to drive into my head how bad it is. What's that about though? I read and do chores too.
Anywho I thought I'd share the shows I watch!
Good Morning America, Regis & Kelly, The View, Dr Oz (some days) Ellen, Oprah, Desperate Housewives, Greys, Private Practice, AFV, Modern Family (my fav) Kardashians, Kendra, Gulianna & Bill, Rachel Zoe, Bethanny Frankel, Entourage, Big Brother, Glee.....I think thats all. Oh and E News, TMZ, and Wheel of Fortune.
Hmmm.....I watch a lot of shows.....
My all time favorite shows are Friends and SATC. I know every word from every episode. I also love Everybody Loves Raymond and fall asleep to those DVDs too.
I also watch Megan Kelly on Fox during lunch every day. Gotta get some smarts in there somewhere! I'll make time for O'Reilly at 7 if nothing else is on and it isn't election time.
So there's that. My TV shows. I LOVE my television. I will never be one of those mothers who limits their kids to just an hour a day. That just wouldn't work for me.

Wedded Bliss

I'm so ready for Scott to get home which should be just a few short hours. I feel like I haven't seen Scott in a week. I stayed in Little Rock after our trip then with the wedding craziness this past weekend....it feels like we haven't seen one another. I'm ready to give him lots of kisses!!
He should be excited about that. I'd been giving him a little bit of the cold shoulder last week. It all started the last day of our trip. I had asked him to ask his Dad if he would go to our house and water my flowers while we were gone. So he calls his Dad (the last day) and said 'will you go by our house and if our flowers look like they need water, will you water them.' Ummm....that's not what I asked you to ask him to do. I never want my flowers to look like they need water. That means they're dying. It just ate me up. Strike One!
THEN, later that week Jax and Craig's rehearsal dinner rolls around. Scott (and myself) hadn't been feeling good and had been loading up on the meds all week. I'm getting ready for the evening and Scott's just laying down. I say to him he should just stay home if he's feeling bad. He agrees. Ummmm I didn't mean that. Strike Two!!
THEN, he was supposed to carpool to the wedding so we wouldn't have two cars in Fayetteville. I obviously had to drive earlier in the day to get ready and he was supposed to ride with some friends. Was he ready in time? No. Did we end up having two cars there? Yes. Strike Three!!!
I decided to forgive him on the dance floor that night because he's really cute and I kinda love him.
I guess I'm over it now. I've played doctor to my flowers all week and I think they'll be okay. I'm sad Scott missed the rehearsal (and my speech) but everyone understood. And, I didn't get drinky drinky happy happy at the wedding so I was totally fine to drive home....as was he. It all worked out of course. Ahh marriage. Gotta love it.

Momma Robin

I have a little friend who's been living in my house for a few weeks now. A robin whom I've named Momma. She built a nest in the wreath on my front door. This is the second time I've had a bird build a nest in a wreath of mine. The first time was when I was in college. I just can't bear to get rid of the nest even though it's incredibly inconvenient to have because I feel like I can't use my front door. I learned my lesson the first time when I opened the door and the bird flew into my house trying to attack me. It still gives me shivers when I think about it. You know how birds scare me. Birds, fish and garbage disposals.
Anywho, Momma's little robin eggs hatched a few days ago. Two little ones! Aww. They're so stinkin tiny. I tried to get a really good look at them yesterday. I grabbed a ladder, carried it through my backyard and around to the front (since I can't go out my front door) and attempted setting it up when Momma came flying around me which lead me to let out a huge girly scream and run away. Momma also has friends on the lookout making sure the babies are safe and sound.
I love watching Momma. I check out what's going on about 6 times a day and I catch her feeding them a lot. It's so sweet to watch. However I'm very ready for them to spread their wings and fly. I googled and they'll be occuping my wreath for another 12 days. I'll definitely be trying to catch their first flying experience though. I saw it happen with the first bird nest experience. One bird went first, hopped around on the ground for a long time, then figured it out while his brothers and sisters watched from the nest. I hope I get to see it happen again! Okay. Wine and movie with my sweet Momma who drove all the way to Bentonville just to keep me company while the hubs is in Cali for business. Love her!!!!!!
